    I have several canning books old and new. First, Ball Canning and Preserving Books are all easy to use. I've never had a recipe that was bad. These books are one of the best for beginners or pro's canning. Direction's are fool proof, if you have questions Ball company customer reps. will assist. @@@@This book, has canning and preserving methods, and recipes included to use with your preserved item . Many more recipes then any other Ball preserving book I've seen. A great addition to have, or as a great gift.@@@@ I've been canning for over 45 years and this is a great value.

    I think this is a good resource for the home canner. Disappointed however in the recipes included. I expected there to be more recipes in this book for pressure canning ready made meals than it had. There are a lot of recipes for jams, condiments & sauces which is not what I was interested in. Good, just not what I had expected.

    I bought my first Ball preserving/canning book about 35+ years ago. This was my learning book and guide for preserving vegetables and jam. It was a basic book about 1/4 inch thick but the instructions for water bath and pressure canning methods were explained well. I had to stop growing all my vegetables and canning about 15 years ago due to declining physical function due to medical issues. I bought this book out of curiosity and was so glad I did! It is full of wonderful and interesting recipes that can me made even if you don't want to "can" them and they can be downsized for family sized portions. Book looks great!

Pressure canning of vegetables, soups and one jar meals, like chili and chicken stew! There is a section on freezing vegetables and fruits, along with a small section on preserving and the smoking and curing of bacon and ham. I think everyone will find something of value in this 368 page canning book!
