Your mission, if you decide to accept it, is to take on the role of Ethan Hunt, Impossible Mission Force's (IMF's) top agent and point man. You'll be supplied with the agency's special weaponry and equipment at your disposal to carry out your classified Mission: Impossible for the PlayStation, courtesy of Infogrames. Jim Phelps will assist you along the way. But impossible, you say? Don't worry -- you're not alone! You've got backup IMF members to help you: John Clutter, Andrew Dowey, Sarah Davies, Dieter Harmon, Candice Parker, Robert Barnes, Jack Kiefer, Luther Stickll, and Krieger. You're going to need these invaluable allies to successfully execute dangerous, death-defying missions such as penetrating a top security terrorist base or infiltrating the KGB's Prague headquarters. Mission: Impossible contains a series of five missions encompassing 20 levels in interchangeable third to first person viewpoints. There is an arsenal of high-tech gadgets and weaponry such as a dart gun, Electro-stunner, gas capsule and injector, face-maker, infra-red vision goggles, laser deflector prism, fingerprint scanner, and of course, the memorable explosive gum. Just imagine what you can do with tools like these! Don't get too cocky otherwise the super artificial intelligence of your adversaries will hunt you down in no time in this 3D action-adventure game of stealth, espionage and intrigue. Similar to the N64's version of the same name, Mission: Impossible brings home all the action and story of the Hollywood blockbuster hit. The game has full speech-driven interaction with your IMF members and options like two difficulty levels and three different languages (English, French, and Spanish). And with vibration feedback compatibility and a variety of other options and settings including a unique, "top-secret" interface, you're in for an explosive experience.

A good game
This is a decent game that not many people have probably played. There is a good variety of action, stealth, and disguises. The story for some reason has been changed from the story of the movie, but it doesn't matter, because the game is still fun. Graphics-7/10 They're good, but nothing special. Characters are fairly detailed, although still somewhat blocky. The background is pretty blurry at times too, but gets the job done in the end. Controls-6/10 The controls aren't all that bad, but take a lot of getting used too because to switch your weapon or gadget can be very confusing at first. Game play-10/10 The game play is great. There's a great variety in missions, some being exceptionally long, and some being VERY short. For example in one mission your in a room, and all you have to ... But then some missions have you going through longs sets of halls, buildings, etc. and can take 15 to 20 minutes. There is also a great variety in the types of missions, some missions you disguise yourself or pretend your a guest at a party, some missions are all action like when your on the top of a train and you kill a lot of people, one mission all you do is go through laser beams while hanging from a cable, and one mission your a sniper and have to take people out. The sniper level is really cool because you have to shoot people that take a gun out of their coat, pocket, etc. But there are also people that will pull out a cell phone or whatever and if you shoot an innocent person it's game over. So you won't get bored of this game being repetitive, because it's far from that. Story-5/10 For some reason they changed the story, and not for the better. Challenge-8/10 Even though some missions are very easy(including the last one) there was a good amount of missions that take a while to figure out exactly what to do. Fun Factor-8/10 There's a great variety of missions so repetitiveness isn't a problem, but there are a few really boring missions too. But the good ones make up for it. Replay Value-7/10 Some missions are really fun and make you want to play them over, especially the sniper level and the last level. But there's no multi-player, so after you've played your favorite missions to death, that's it. Sound-9/10 Mission Impossible theme song, and there's also good sound effects/voice overs in the game to go along with it. Overall-7/10 Some great missions that are really fun to play, but the game doesn't feel like it was made to it's full potential, because it doesn't give you that ''WOW'' feeling you get after you play a GREAT game. So this will just be remembered as just another action game.
