I cleaned up and replaced the carburetor on a 1971 chevy truck. I changed it from a Carter AFB to a Edelbrock 1406. The carburetor was bench tested and didn't need much additional adjusting. It was a good price and quality carburetor. I will say give yourself some time when you buy one because they rebuild them as you order them. I usually go for the 650cfm on sbf. Never had luck leaning out the idle. 600cfm is spot on. 20+ MPG. Two thumbs up.

After the carburetor arrived I did not use it. I returned it. The reason I returned it is that I would have had to change both my gas line and the transmission linkage.I really did not want to do that. Had the Edelbrock came with those modifications it would have been a greater carburetor.Therefore, I had my Rochester rebuilt and reinstalled.After the carburetor arrived I did not use it. Installed carb dry and then just cranked engine till float bowl filled. It started idling cold just fine with no adjustment whatsoever. I am pleased with my purchase.
