Young Modern by Silverchair
I have purchased every Silverchair album since Frogstomp. And I have to say that each new album since has been a dramatic departure from the last with the band's sound softening with each album. I believe the band has finally shed their sticky grunge image with 2002’s release "Diorama." If you were a fan of Diorama; the you will be pleased to know that most of the production cast (producer Nick Launay (INXS, Talking Heads), mixer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse), and legendary composer Van Dyke Parks (U2, Beach Boys) worked on Young Modern to produce yet another completely different version of Silverchair. As for the album, the lyrics are pensive, the melodies perfect, and the music is distinctly refined. Having already proven his epic vocal ability, Johns appeals to more creativity and ... Most listeners will be surprised to learn that the upbeat opening track, "Young Modern Station," is the heaviest rock song on the record. "Straight Lines", the first single, is a catchy pop song, and "If You Keep Losing Sleep" makes Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" sound almost docile at times. Overall, the entire album is seamless and offers new facets with each listen. Once again, Silverchair has clearly taken another giant step forward. But, be forewarned that this album is more chilled pop than rock. The bonus DVD contains: 1 Straight Lines DVD 2 Bonus Material Bonus Track / DVD

Amazing..
These guys never fail to amaze me. They get a bit crazier and more creative with each cd, and with this one and Diorama I was a bit like, "What the hell..?" but if you forget what you hear everyday on top 40 radio and sit back and really listen to it and pay attention to what was put into it, you'll realize how amazing it is and how hard they worked to create something they love. Daniel, Ben and Chris have grown up and their taste in music has evolved. It might not be what you're used to, but that's what great music is about. I love this cd and I love this band. Silverchair is Amazing!
I've been listening to Silverchair since I can remember what music is! This band is so amazingly talented. I love how this band has grown from their grunge into such incredible experimental strings. Daniel has such a beautful voice. I bought this CD cause I love their new songs and wanted to have the entire album to listen to it virtually every day! Amanda

I love the song Straight Lines. It has a great sound to it. Good CD, I like it. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes or listens to Q101.
