    Ancestral treat

    Although it is historical fiction it gives a picture of the building of America. I use the book in the genealogy classes I give. Now I use the film as well. Along with being educational it is entertaining as well. Genealogists often see their own ancestors in the characters.

    This is a good DVD set if you like James Michener stories.

    I bought this at my wife's request. It is a lot to watch. She has watched one DVD so far and seems to have enjoyed it. I gave this three stars because I believe this was as expected, no better and no worse. James Michener usually does a good job of telling stories.

    Great book turned into great series

    After reading the wonderful Mitchener book in 1976 I was afraid the miniseries wouldn’t hold up. It did! Great actors brought the characters in the book to life. My hubby never saw the series so I bought it for him.

    No going back

    I watched this for the first time in 74. I guess I wanted to re-live the time. No going back. It is a great mini-series, but my life has moved on to different areas. Still a great show to watch!

    A story of our history that sometimes loses its way

    This started out fairly good , I actually bought it hoping to see Clint Walkers acting but Clint is only in it a minute . The story has lots of ridiculous sidelines that detract from the film . And ridiculous characters too . The fist part is better .overall I would not purchase again .
