  • The Mote in God's Eye - Sci-Fi at it's Best

In the distant future, mankind has populated the stars and expanded into Pournelle's CoDominium universe. Despite the expansion, no encounter with an alien has taken place. Until now. When a dead alien is found in a human solar system, much study is done, their origin is discovered, and humans set off on an expedition to make First contact with the "Moties". The rest of the story deals with how humans and moties interact in an effort to make the most of this first ever contact between humans and non-humans. Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle team up once again to write a gripping science fiction story that grabs your attention and holds you spell bound from beginning to end. Highly recommended for the great story line. Anyone who buys this book should also get the sequel "The Gripping ...

  • The Log of Space

I have collected most of the Larry Niven books. When I go to a book store he is one of the first authors that I will look for. God's Eye refers to a explored star known at God's Eye because it looked like an eye. A mote is a log. The start of the book explains that we photographed a star leaving this system. Part of the story deals with the use of point that allows faster than light travel. The ship came from a star system is closed from the rest of the galaxy because of novaed star. The story is about the exploration of this planet in this isolated star system. There is a sequel to this book called The Gripping Hand. The species that live is this system are very different from humans. This is an enjoyable read.
