As Sir Hyde Parker's fleet approaches the Danish coast, the Virago joins the battle. Amid gales and ice, Drinkwater strives to save his ship and his brother. It is 1801 and napoleon is reaching supreme power in France and has allied himself with Tsar Paul of Russia. • The Bomb Vessel

I read the first three titles in Woodman's Drinkwater series. and wanted to continue with this one. I've enjoyed them, but I think most readers are interested in the action and historical aspects of the period. I venture to posit that most know as little as I about the ship-handling of square rigged vessels. Woodman is an expert sailor, and spends an inordinate portion of his books on this subject.

  • The Bomb Vessel (National Drinkwater series) is comparable to the C.S. Forrester or Patrick O'Brien sea stories.
