About this product

Product Information

In 1944, as World War II is raging across Europe, fifteen-year-old Jack Raab dreams of being a hero. Leaving New York City, his family, and his boyhood behind, Jack uses a false I.D. and lies his way into the U.S. Air Force. From their base in England, he and his crew fly twenty-four treacherous bombing missions over occupied Europe. The war is almost over and Hitler near defeat when they fly their last mission -- a mission destined for disaster. Shot down far behind enemy lines, Jack is taken prisoner and sent to a German POW camp, where his experiences are more terrifying than anything he'd ever imagined.

  • Basic Review of The LAst Mission

I read this book many years ago, and only recently started thinking about the story. I lost my original copy, so my hunt took me to ebay after i had found (thru research with google) the title of the book. I love how easy the story flows, and how quickly you can connect with the main character Jack. The comaderie, friendships, trials, and victories are felt by the reader. From the desire to serve the army, to the desire to leave the army, to the act of serving, the story immerses you with enough detail to bring it all to life. A very easy read, which for most avid readers should take several enjoyable hours to finish. very satisfactory story.
