Jane Austen's Persuasion
Also though I have seen several versions of Jane Austen's novels put into film this version I had not seen before. The scenery, elegant country estates, the views of Bath along with the many costumes were wonderful. However I felt the directing or perhaps the actors were not sure how to portray these characters. I took much of the film to determine who was with whom and what the story line should be. I must read Austen's book to clear the confusion with the characters. Although most of the acting was great the two main characters were cold and the one young women was shuttled to and from different families for their benefit, not hers. When she meets her old suitor once again she seems cold to me and unresponsive. It was just strange. They had feelings for each other but just couldn't ... loved the series but unfortunately this copy cut a few scenes. i do not e think is would hurt the movie to add the scenes that were cut, only maybe another 15 minutes so why? if you love Jane austin it is lovely.

Watch a romance film? Me? I never knew more about Jane Austen than her name, and I wondered what made her such a historical figure. Hearing the star (Amanda Root) in the film speak the words, as she says [All the writing about women was] "written by men", I knew I was in the presence of Jane Austen herself. It was a window to the past. She added rather deeply to my view of life, and my memories of the women I have cared about through the years. I was enthralled. Her words made me grateful to be alive, that I might earn the privilege of showing her, and in fact all women, loyal and deep love, by a man who is true. This is my mom’s favorite Jane Austen film adaptation of this story, and rightfully so. It’s about two characters, Wentworth and Anne, who fell madly in love with one another once, but due to the persuasion of Anne’s aunt (hence the title), Anne breaks off what implies was an engagement. Eight years later, Anne’s considered a spinster and the luxury she once enjoyed no longer exists. She gets a second chance when Wentworth visits a mutual friend, and lets her heart guide her instead of society’s silly conventions. You feel even more sorry for good-hearted Anne when you see how bullied she is by other characters, such as her sister and family friend Henrietta. Jane Austen was considered insightful for her time, and this insight, compounded with breathtaking views and brilliant acting, makes ... Excellent Film quality and Story Line.
Having fallen in love with Keira Knightly version of Pride & Prejudice, I was leery of finding another of fine quality. This I would a 1 on film quality, 2 on story line. The leading lady in the film just didn't hit the mark all the time, while the male leading role was fine. Worth the watch!
