  • Nice little book

I guess it's a "classic" for a reason. I found the history very interesting. I think this is the first knitting book I've been able to sit down and read, since I mostly like to just hit the ground running with my knitting. I'm not so certain this book would have been good if I tried using it to LEARN how to knit, but it's great for information now that I already know. I actually found the section on weaving for color knitting a LOT more helpful than other books. I'm only about half way through the book, but it's full of information, such as color knitting, bead knitting, and garment making, besides the basics.

  • Mary Thomas's Knitting Book is just that. Nothing fancy.

Although the book is dated, the information is still relevant. The instructions and charts are clear and easy to follow, there are projects for beginners to experienced knitters and there are explanations for a few techniques I have not seen anywhere else for a long while.

  • A great little basic overview of knitting skills - a vintage reprint from the 1938 edition and worth every penny if you are a knitterl

I was replacing a copy that I lost when my house burned in a wildfire in August. It is a great little knitting book and the copy I bought was in excellent condition. I am well pleased.

  • Excellent, precise and a good reference basis

Excellent explanation. Definitely recommended for beginners. This book is information dense and packs a lot of detail in a small space. It covers a wide variety of knitting techniques and the accompanying hand-drawn diagrams are straightforward. . It serves well as a reference guide and learning book. Not only is it of value in terms of technique, but it serves as a wonderful primer for the history of knitting.

  • Technique Book for the ages

This book is credited with sparking a revival of knitting which began in the 1970's. It remains an excellent reference for knitting history and techniques. Illustrations are b&w line drawings that clearly show the steps to be taken. Some British terms are used but they are easily understood. A compact paperback and worthwhile addition to the library of the seriously knitting-addicted.
