It covers the major operations of the German war against the Soviet Union, including the initial invasion in 1941 (Barbarossa), the attempt to capture Moscow (Typhoon), Russian counter attacks (Kharkov), great meat grinder battles (Stalingrad), and many others, all the way up to the fall of Berlin in 1945. The book includes maps showing the ebb and flow of the front lines, penetrating assaults, counterattacks and encirclements. Also included are chapters analyzing the structure of the opposing armies, their strength & weakness of their equipment, training and/or tactics, as pitted against each other.
