    GREAT SELF-STARTER YOGA BOOK

When I sprained my neck (really bad fall from a horse) nearly 40 years ago, I started using this book as part of my long-term rehabilitation program. Day one was pretty easy so it encouraged me to go to day two. By the end of the month, the most difficult exercises at the end of the book were easy and made sense. Things I learned from the book have stayed with me my whole life and many of the exercises in the book are part of my daily routine. The fact that I am still riding jumpers at age 66 is due in no small part to having had this book in my toolkit. When a friend's dog ate my original copy, there was no doubt or hesitation about replacing this must-have book.

  • This book will change your life.

I bought my first copy of this book in the late 70s and gave it to a friend a few years later. since then I have given away five copies to friends who all have used it to learn the benefits of Yoga. This book presents a stress free, simple way to learn techniques that will keep a person physically and mentally fit for life. I'm now 70 and ski double black diamonds. I credit this book for making that possible.

  • A Great Way to Get In Shape!

I first used this book in 1981 in Bangkok, but I had watched Hittleman's televised Yoga programs in the 1970's. When I first began the Yoga with this book, I was 20 pounds overweight. It is the best book I've seen to show pictures and explain exactly how to do the stretches and holds that we need to tone up our bodies. It follows an excellent plan, starting out with simple stretches and going on to more difficult ones. At the end of each session is a page to explain how the body is being helped, and to give suggestions as to drinking more water, and the best foods to eat. These stretches and holds really re-made my body! And the stimulation to my glands helped me to begin to loose weight. My spine became more flexible, and my muscles more relaxed, and so I began ...

  • Yoga by Richard L. Hittleman

I was introduced to Yoga by Richard Hittleman's television program in the 1970's. Now at age 81 I am still working from the instructions in this book. My copy was falling apart and I can't tell you how delighted I am to find it again! Paperback is almost a misnomer. The binding has a heavy glossy cover and high quality paper for the illustrations. Anyone from a beginner to experienced practitioner can benefit from the 28 day program which starts you out very gently with gorgeous photos and gradually leads to a complete workout. It does not confuse you with names you can't pronounce (the asanas are there but in small print). The later lessons do demonstrate the difficult poses, but you are directed to do only those within your ablilty. Breathing ...

  • Almost 50 and the first yoga I ever did.

Nicely Illustrated. Easy to understand. Takes you through the steps methodiclly and with pupose. I have exercised most of my life and find that with the help of this book about yoga, I am now in very good shape for an almost 50 year old man. I had strength and stamina, but now I have energy I never had and much better flexibility, not to metion a better awareness about myself and my body. I am more peaceful inside and more relaxed. The only complaint I would have is that it takes longer then the 20 to 30 minutes to complete the exercices that is claimed. My minimum time was 30 minutes. But I would rather give up cardio time and do the yoga then not do the yoga at all. This will be my most important of execerises in the future, Thanks for such a great book.
