We purchased this book to add to our homeschool library, but it would also be an excellent resource for any teacher (it was created for classroom use). This book has seven mini units covering: What is History?; Ancient Mesopotamia; Ancient Egypt; Ancient Greece; Ancient Rome; Ancient China; and Ancient Aztec World. These unit can be done together (we are taking all of our pockets and making them into a large book), or be used to cover several years. New standards in our state (OK) require an ancient history lesson for each grade; this could easily be used to fill this requirement. All of the lessons have fun, hands on projects that require very little additional supplies, lesson vocabulary (in a neat format), a 2-3 page informational lesson for the students, a teacher fact sheet and a ... This is not just a book of worksheets; it is much more hands-on and fun for the children to complete. The only drawback of this program is that the completed pockets are large (12"x12") and need to be stored while working on them. After the first pocket we completed the activities and kept them in a file folder until everything was finished and completed the pockets as a last step.

Homeschool History!
We have used the history pockets before and we love them. It is really rewarding to be able to look back at this beautiful book and know that you created that and that you learned lots of things while making it and having fun. My daughter loves to learn using the hands on method and truly it gives a greater understanding and more lasting memory for what was taught than any other way!
