This new Ghostbusters is really funny. I didn't think all of the cursing was necessary. It would be just as funny without it. If you never saw the first ones, you can watch this one and not be lost in the plot.

Bridesmaids cosplaying as Ghostbusters
The movie feels like a bad cut-and-paste job in MS Paint. Wouldn't it be hilarious to airbrush out the main characters from this one movie from the 1980s and drop in the characters from this one movie from 2011? What pushes the film over the top and into the cinematic dumpster is its brazen refusal to embrace its high concept roots, which, in and of itself, is a recipe for disaster (how many modernizations of '80s classics can you think of that have actually been worth a damn?). In the original Ghostbusters, a team of scientists lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, which prompts them to become "ghostbusters" in order to wage a high-tech battle against the supernatural in order to earn money. It was a film that had an (at the time) truly novel concept for a Hollywood ... The movie feels like a bad cut-and-paste job in MS Paint. One reason Busters '16 failed is that the producers went into this one with the exact opposite mentality - let's get together a so-so ensemble core and THEN build the paranormal hijinks around them. In this film, participants bicker and bitch at one another infinitely more than multidimensional policemen confronting a Sumerian God in modern Manhattan. Not only did they miss the forest for the trees, but I think they also missed the trees themselves.

A Witty, Funny Movie that is Overlooked
What a great flick. I loved the girls and thought they were perfectly cast. I also loved the fact that they included as many of the original Ghostbusters as they could in bit roles. A nice guilty pleasure of a movie that just lets you sit back and laugh.
