About this product

Product Information

The land of Hyrule is once again in a state of unrest. Skull Kid has stolen the all-powerful Majora's Mask, Link's faithful steed Epona, and the musically enchanted Ocarina of Time. Adding insult to injury, the miscreant transformed our hero into a lowly Deku Scrub upon entering a portal to another dimension. Trapped in a parallel universe, Link must overcome his condition to find and stop Skull Kid before the world is thrown into complete chaos. And he has 72 hours to do it.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games released on the 64-bit platform. Using an enhanced version of the 3D engine found in 1998's Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask offers an identical control system with a completely new storyline. The player as Link must complete the game within three days to triumph over evil. During this period, which roughly translates into 72 minutes of real time, you must journey through dungeons and rescue as many people as possible.

Interestingly enough, the hero cannot and will not succeed on his first attempt. Majora's Mask allows the player to experience the same three days over and over again in order to learn more about the parallel world in which Link is trapped. Since the denizens all adhere to distinct daily schedules, you will need to revisit areas at various times to find and meet all of the characters in the game.

Rescuing certain characters earns you items needed to complete your quest, some of which will become a permanent part of your inventory when you start anew. Since one of your first tasks is to recover the stolen ocarina, you'll be able to return to day one of your adventure by playing the fabled "Song of Time." Any wealth acquired during your quest can also be saved at the town bank so you don't have to start each new day penniless.

Those familiar with Ocarina of Time will remember the masks that Link could wear and sell for profit. As evidenced by the title, masks also play an important role in this game, as they grant Link new powers. Our hero's initial curse finds him with the abilities of a Deku Scrub, a plant-like creature that can spit out nuts, perform spin attacks, and even fly to a certain extent, using its petals like a helicopter. Once you succeed in reverting back to your original form, the Deku Mask lets you take advantage of the creature's powers to access otherwise unattainable areas.

Other masks include those of Goron and Zora, two races prominently featured in Ocarina of Time. The Goron mask gives Link the abilities of the rock-like Goron people, providing him with superhuman strength and speed (rocks can roll, after all), while the Zora mask imbues Link with the power to propel himself underwater like a dolphin. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is the second game on the system to require the 4MB Expansion Pak accessory to play.

    The other N64 Zelda game.

In my opinion, Majora’s Mask is tied with Banjo Kazooie as the best game on the N64. I’ve played the game on multiple different services over the years, but never owned the original cartridge itself. And it plays just as well as I imagined. The Groundhog Day element of repeating the same three days while seeing what you can accomplish in the time you have before the impending doom of it all is one of the most tense and challenging aspects of the game. The main quest might be short by Zelda standards, but that’s because this game is all about the side quests. And missing out on about 3/4th of the game if you decide to skip them. Seeing how you affect the lives of the townspeople in the world around is one of the most satisfying parts that very few games have been able to emulate for ...

  • Fun, Action packed, Intriguing, and one of a kind. Majora's Mask is a GREAT game.

Majora's Mask is a unique and great game. It is one of the only Zelda games where Ganondorf is no the antagonist. Majora's Mask is not only a great sequel to spectacular Ocarina of Time, it is also the better N64 Action/Adventure game. Ocarina of Time is still a better Zelda game and game of its generation, but Majora's Mask did what Ocarina of Time did and improved it. Sure it doesn't have better bosses, dungeons, or a better story, but Majora's Mask is a Zelda game that you definitely do not want to miss out on.

  • With all my heart♡

Nostalgia vibes!♡ Even with owning the 3DS version of Majoras mask, there's just something about playing on the 64 that brings me a tear to me eye :'-) I remember always wanting to own majoras mask as a kid on the 64, but was told too young or not ready- and on my teens with no join and being impossible to buy games with no job, had to rely on playing it on pc [which didn't feel right to me :/ ] but now at age 23, stumbled upon this beauty again, purchased it on here and boy was it the best decision of my life♡ I'm in awe with game as it holds a dear place in my heart ☆ Overall this game being one of my favorite darkest Zelda series, just thrilled to being able to play it!:'-)

  • Extremely Niche item

The Internet may be full of this as an amazing and revolutionary game as a hidden gem, but it's not like that to everyone. The game is pretty dated and you have to be a fan of zelda beforehand, most preferably play ocarina of time first. The controls are good, but certainly take getting used to and the graphics were great for the time but have not aged as well, especially since there's a remake. If you're a definite fan or collecting I'd say get it, but if not I recommend maybe try out an emulator or the remake or the one on the virtual console. If you decide to buy be patient and even prepared you won't like the game, all in all this is a great game and well worth the buy but most certainly not for everyone like ocarina of time may be.

  • Possibly THE best LoZ game ever

Like most people in my generation, the first Legend of Zelda game I played was the amazing Ocarina of Time. Somehow, however, I didn't play Majora's Mask the first time until 2011 or so, on the Wii Virtual Console. At this point I'd played OoT, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword multiple times each. Majora's Mask has a compelling story with an overall creepy, kinda dark vibe to it. The whole game has a similar feel to the darker parts of Ocarina, such as the Under the Well and Shadow temples. The 3-day mechanic is extremely compelling to me and adds a sense of urgency and a need for time and resource management. The game is just difficult enough to be interesting, and you will undoubtedly become hung up on a couple segments for some time and may even need to consult the ...
