They have been making a living in the hip hop game for over 10 years without the aid of commercial or major label interests, keeping their work close to the street and, in the words of Mac Dre, "too hard for the radio." Now, this collection of 12 videos brings these under-recognized rappers to the public; filmed between 1992 to 1999, the selection includes Mac Dre's "California Livin'," Mac Mall's "Wide Open" and "Sic Wit Tis," Dubee's "My Thang," and Young Lay's "All About My $fetti." Tupac Shakur directed and co-starred in Mac Mall's "Ghetto Theme," and directed Ray Luv's "Last Nite." Behind-the-scenes footage and a trailer for the Y.B.B. documentary further fleshes out this portrait of a real underground success story.
