Good for outages
I live in a rural area that frequently experiences extended power outages. I wanted something small and light (no pun intended) that I could move about my house with when there is no electricity. This lantern's three white-light output levels, plus the flashlight mode suit my purpose well. Although there are larger, higher lumen rechargeable lighting options, I wanted something compact. I have used Streamlight products for years, and felt confident that this lantern would be of high quality and utility. It is. It is o-ring sealed for wet environments, solidly constructed, and has no external charging port that could take on water. Actual size of the lantern is half of the palm size.You are getting a very compact light with versatile application. Pros: 1) 3 working modes - Lantern, pocket flashlight, night light - first mode features - 30-170-325 lumens lasting 25h-7.5h-4.5h of light with included rechargeable 18650 battery - second mode allows to use the light as night light (1.6 lum - 22h) that can glow red or flash (1.6 lum - 90h) as beacon - third mode allows to produce light from the top of the lantern as a regular flashlight with 2 outputs - 40 lum for 25h and 300 lum for 3.5h 2) Siege X features handle that allows to hang the light by the tree branches or on a dedicated hook inside garage 3) Also has carabiner clip on the bottom - allows attachment to rucksack 4) Accepts 2 battery types - 18650 button tops ... Super modular and compact
I use this (connected to an EDC bag) everyday to walk to my vehicle at 4am in dark timber. It dangles via it's hook all day every day. The rubber protects it from bumps. I'm not easy on things and it's barely showing wear. I bought 2 extra Streamlight 18650 batteries and this gives plenty of light for one persons needs. The flashlight beam could be wider... It is awfully narrow, but it throws far for lower rated lumens than it's flashlight counterparts. Also the lantern is cool blue, so if your eyes are sensitive to that, know that a large manufacturer like Streamlight hasn't come around to natural white. DO NOT BE FOOLED
Do not be fooled by the product reviews and item titles. This product does not work with standard 18650 format batteries. It uses a custom, extra long battery module that comes close(by a few mm) to an 18650 format, but truly is not an 18650. It will not work out of the box with real 18650 modules. Don't waste your time like I did.
