Great finale to this Amish book trilogy! Beverly Lewis is writing better than ever and her characters in this set include those with mental illness, a kidnapping, differing spiritual values, conflict resolution and more. Read Preacher’s Daughter and The Englischer first !

I bought the book because I have been enjoying the author's book about Amish and Mennonite life for several years now. I read the first two books in this series sometime ago and couldn't wait to read this one. Because I enjoy art work myself, I could thoroughly identify with the main character's conflicts about having to put her drawing and painting behind her if she wanted to stay within her Amish faith. Being a church leader's daughter made her decision all the more difficult. At the same time I felt a little cheated at the resolution of her other problem - the fact that she was in love with an "English" man - a situation which could also cause shunning and loss of her Amish life. This seemed reminiscent to a story line in a recent novel by another author who also writes about ... I bought the book because I have been enjoying the author's book about Amish and Mennonite life for several years now. The resolution to this problem of our heroine also led to the resolution of the life problems of another character. It all seemed a little pat to me; however, not disappointing enough to keep me from eagerly awaiting the author's next book about the Amish. I find their lifestyle fascinating and often wish for a more simple life myself. I am still trying figure out the mind set that would allow you to be driven in a car, but not own or drive one yourself and to use gas driven appliances but not electical ones. I find the author uniquely qualified to give us an accurate picture into this life and that of the closely related mennonites.

Not your typical Amish story
This isn't your typical Amish story. The plot is very interesting and the characters relatable. One small editing problem, though: Ben, Annie's beau, spent some time at his parents' home, and his bedroom moved from upstairs to the basement and back upstairs. In the second book, Louisa's cat Muffin was male, then female, then male. Oops. Still a great series, though!

The first one could stand alone but if you read this one first the story would lack a lot of information. Also the second one would leave you frustrated until you read this book. The topic and content of this book is good and can be used to learn from if you know the Lord. The Brethern by Beverly Lewis 3rd and final in series
Loved the ending,Beverly always has a wonderful twist to just tie up all loose ends in her stories. This was the final book in series of three. I get all the books in her series when the last one is out, and then read them all straight thru. Hate to wait sometimes a year between books, can't stand the suspense.
