Purchased the item and a week later the seller sends me a message saying the (new, unopened, in box) item is defective and that they will need to cancel my order. They tried replacing the battery, but to no avail. When I received the message, I check the item listing and it is still for sale, but now $150 more expensive. Would not recommend this seller. Why would they open the item's packaging and even open the item to replace a battery? Something is not right.

    Great Camera for Moderate Use

The one outstanding benefit of this Nikon is the ruggedness of the internal frame. Unlike so many of the point-and-shoot cameras on the market, this one can take a bit more of a beating without needing to be replaced. Since the P7000 did not have a positionable view screen, you can find them online at really great prices (I paid less than $100). If you want to pay $100 more, you can opt for the Nikon P7100 which primarily upgrades to a positionable view screen. Both the P7000 & P7100 give you nearly all the same image control as a D-SLR, or you can choose full auto and let the camera do everything itself. Sure, the lens could be a little faster, but the built-in flash does a pretty good job for most scenarios. Unless you're wanting to blow up your images to some outrageous size for ...

  • Great camera, great price

I am very impressed with this camera. It has a lot of the features that you only find on a full size DSLR but it can fit in your pocket. I've already taken a few pictures and I'm impressed with the image quality. I can't wait to get it out to do some serious shooting. The P7100 and above have the articulated screen, but you pay significantly more for that. I don't think I will miss it. For a point and shoot the speed is good and I still haven't installed firmware version 1.2 which I've read actually speeds the camera up. A very satisfied buyer.

  • Great Camera if you update the Firmware

Let me start off by saying I am photographer with 7+ years experience, I have used several camera brands but for my digitals I have used Nikon. I use a Nikon D300 for my main camera and wanted a nice point and shoot to take everywhere I didnt want to carry the 30 pound bag my SLR and lens are in. My first shots on this camera where a disappointment, I didnt like the focus speed or the write time to memory. I researched the problem and a free download of the latest firmware fixed the issues. Its large enough for my hands and the setup options rival my older Nikon D70. Its a easy camera to use if you have had some time on a DSLR, you will need the book if your new to serious photography. My wife and I went on a weekend trip and I took it to shows that your not supposed to bring a big SLR ...

  • Great camera! Perfect! but slow when in low light

I chose this camera after looking at many other makes and models mainly because it has excellent battery life, colors, quality, low light performance and zoom compared to aperture. It has 7.1X at F5.6 which is great for long distance shooting. It also has a hot shoe to blast away light! The camera is very solid and its really compact! Plus the most important part is the EV dial and virtual horizon which helps me stay in control. Also the shutter speed goes upto 1/4000 which is amazing to a camera this small and affordable. The Camera's auto focus system was a mess at first, it worked great in auto mode but not in others. Then it seems Center Wide setting solved it.The camera is a bit slow in low light focusing. But everything is perfect. I didn't even need to update the firmware! I'm so ...

  • Impresses me more every time I use it.

It was a toss up between the Canon G10 and the Nikon P7000. The Nikon has a learning curve that can be a little trying but with time you will become comfortable with it and then the photographer in you will come out. All the reviews I read on both cameras were 50/50 each way and I choose the Nikon for it's looks, durability and of course it's good reviews. I was so impressed with the P7000 that after a couple weeks I purchased a second for my wife. This one was still in the box and appears to be unused. I have background in photography as a newspaper photographer and Lab Tech and wedding photographer. I wish I would have had this equipment back in the day. LC
