About this product

Product Information

Charlotte Bronte's impassioned novel is the love story of Jane Eyre, a plain yet spirited governess, and her employer, the arrogant, brooding Mr. Rochester. Published in 1847 under the pseudonym Currer Bell, the book heralded a new kind of heroine--one whose virtuous integrity, keen intellect, and tireless perseverance broke through class barriers to win equal stature with the man she loved. Hailed by William Makepeace Thackeray as "the masterwork of a great genius," Jane Eyre is still regarded, over a century later, as one of the finest novels in English literature.

  • A classic favorite!

I remember the first time I read Jane Eyre. I was in 7th grade and thought it was awful!!! But, I was just a child and not really ready for the romantic side of things...especially with tragedy, regardless of the ending of the story. Now, however, it is a favorite in my house full of daughters!! My 7th grade daughter (a whole different person than me) fell in love with the book when she was in 7th grade and now has her own copy of the book and is starting her collection of the DVD's. I HIGHLY recommend this book. It's truly a classic!
