Beautiful Transition to Film, Perhaps Not for Children
Watership Down is an excellent book, and it has been translated to film beautifully by the Warner Bros. company. Songs by Art Garfunkel are a nice addition as well. The humor, charm, sorrow, and joy of this story are captured in the timeless (pre-computer) animation style you don't get to see these days. My only major complaint would be that the film may not be suitable for children. The violence is, at times, particularly intense. There is a moderate amount of blood in the film as well. I consider this a good adaptation from the book. I am glad they didn't back down from the story. Watership Down is Socially Educational
I saw this film on a field trip with my class during my middle school years. I have often thought about this film and now that I have middle school children I wanted to share it with them. There are so many social lessons this film teaches and that you don't have to be the biggest to be brave and stand up for what's right. It is a little graphic but it does deal with realism. Do Not be fooled by the fact that it is animated. This film is not for the very young.I saw this film on a field trip with my class during my middle school years. Watership Down
This movie is a definite classic. A story of a group of rabits trying to find their own place in the world. They face many hardships, including a group of "bad" rabits. This movie is not like any other animated tale, it has many adult themes and a very deep story. My 4 year old loves it, but it might not be right for all children.
