Comic actor Jim Carrey plays it (mostly) straight for this smart satire from director Peter Weir (DEAD POETS SOCIETY). The life of Truman Burbank (Carrey) has been broadcast around the world with tremendous success since the day he was born. A star for the mere fact that he exists, Truman has no idea that there are cameras in every corner of his world. But soon, cracks begin to show in the constructed world, and Truman questions his existence while everyone around him is in on the joke. Weir directs a fine cast, including Laura Linney as Truman's wife and Ed Harris as the show's director. Screenwriter Andrew Niccol also added interesting twists to the scripts for S1M0NE and GATTACA.

    Unexpectedly Heartwarming

    The Truman Show does for Jim Carrey what Punch Drunk Love did for Adam Sandler. It gives him a dramatic role and shows naysayers he can act. It also helps that the film deals with Truman living his life, unaware that's it's a staged show built, designed, and produced for the mass audiences. However, Truman ultimately starts to get suspicious of his surroundings and what happens after he finds out has to be seen to be believed. Expertly directed by Witness director Peter Weir, it's well worth the unexpected watch.

    Truman Show

    This movie is a old movie I saw it once about 11 years ago.I didn't remember all the details of the movie but I did remember thinking it was a good twisted movie.It is different than most Jim Carey movies.He doesn't act like a crazy nut.Though it is fiction it should really make mothers think twice about giving their babies up for adoption because you never really know someones intentions.I don't think 11 years ago I would have believed that something like this could ever be possible.In todays day and age the way family values are always under attack by the media and Hollywood I guess to some he would be considered one of the lucky ones.Its a good movie over all twisted but I liked it.

    moving, funny, genius

    The Truman Show is easily one of top five favorites ever. Watch it at least three times. All the perfect pieces fit together to make an outstanding movie.

    The Truman Show JIM CARREY

    I liked the movie and bought it for my own collection. I was in the mood to watch this movie and thought for the price I'll buy instead of renting it. My husband doesn't seem to care much for this movie but I think it's GREAT!
