Another COOL look into the life of Hunter Thompson
This is a film for anyone who likes renegade American writers and the sort of men who stand up to the term 'legend'. I was drawn to Thompson thru Ralph Steadman, who's art I enjoy, and who often illustrated Thompson's work. I've since seen movies and documentaries related to HST's life and found him to be so thoroughly interesting, for his renegade seat-of-the-pants style of life and writing. And his subsequent suicide. If you like Thompson, you'll love this film, excellent interviews with actors who played him, people who knew him and simply the biography of a man who lived. If you don't know Thompson, watch this for a truly weird look into a live lived outside the box. Cruel and intentional, diverse and extreme, an man cut from the ... One of the best HST documentaries
Whether you are a huge HST fan or have absolutely no clue who he is, you must watch this film if you appreciate literature. This documentary makes it clear that HST is one of the greatest writers of our time. The man was a complete nut job. And the cast of actors that speak about him are no better. Maybe it was all the drugs (at least for that Johnny Depp character). Perhaps it was all an act. I don't know, but Thompson was a genius. An original. Just like Twain or Hemmingway but even more screwed up. He makes us realize that we are all just walking around being not normal. Trying not to do as we are told while drinking margaritas with our morning coffee and looking at the escort listings in the phonebook just for fun. Get a little Closer
Hunter Thomas was a pioneer of the 60's. Never meeting the man and only hearing about him in the books and movies, this is an excellent documentary to bring you closer to the figure who sailed through the 60's and 70's and leaving his imprint on society for generations to come. If you have any intrest in Thompson or his works, this is a must have as it breaks down his life to you and the wild adventures he embarked on.Hunter Thomas was a pioneer of the 60's. excellent dvd...very imformative!really interested in Hunter s thompson and this video takes a very in depth look at Hunter's life...lots of great commentary
