About this product

Product Information

A family film for the Instant Messenger age, RV takes a humorous look at a mostly functional suburban family's attempt to get away from it all on a rare vacation. The always hilarious Robin Williams plays Bob Munro, a beaten-down middle manager who feels alienated from the family he works so hard to keep comfortable. Upon his insistence, the Munro family rents an RV and embarks on a search for quality time in the land of Manifest Destiny. With his frustrated wife Jamie (the always stellar Cheryl Hines of TV's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM), rapper-wannabe son Carl (Josh Hutcherson), and angsty daughter Cassie (Joanna Levesque, best known as a tween pop singer), la famiglia Munro is Westward Ho. However, white-collar Bob's lack of adeptness at handling the monstrous vehicle causes plenty of amusing chaos. Thank God for the kindness of strangers--in this case, a couple of endearing oddballs played by Jeff Daniels (who proved his comedic chops in the DUMB AND DUMBER films) and Kristin Chenoweth. As Travis and Mary Jo, two obsessive RV-ers with a penchant for barbecues, beer, and yodeling, they serve as the Middle-American heart and soul of the film, much smarter and savvier than cultural stereotypes write them off as being. Seasoned comedy director Barry Sonnenfield (MEN IN BLACK, WILD, WILD WEST) proves that he has mastered the intelligent comedy, and Williams, particularly in moments that are improvised, proves his brilliance once again. But it is the uniformly excellent supporting cast, in particular a knee-slapping turn by Will Arnett (Gob on TV's ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), that makes RV so memorable.

  • RV is a good decent funny film all ages can enjoy

I decided to buy this DVD & add it to my collection after I had seen it via Comcast digital cable provider. I really liked this movie, plus the fact that my Mother & Father happen to be RV owners as well doesn't hurt either. It's a good decent funny film about a family going on vacation basically, but the twist is Robin's character is not totally honest with his family about the reason he thinks they should take an RV on vacation instead of go where they had all previously planned. It turns out it is job related(a pressuring boss)& he tries to keep that from his family the best he can until it all backfires on him near the end of the movie. What makes it more funny is that Robin Williams character doesn't know much of anything about RVs & has to learn everything on the go & as a result ...

  • A movie for the entire family!

Robin Williams' new comedy R.V. is really not bad. There are so many things that make the average person cry out at the screen in disbelief, but again... this is a "movie" and not reality. Just like any Horror movie or slapstick Comedy movie, reality takes a backseat to absolute crazyiness and the worst of situations usually takes place over thought out responses to probable situations. So.... taking it for what it is, it's really not bad. William's has some funny moments - only some that really make you belly laugh. One scene (close to the end) really made me laugh out loud! You could feel for the character Robin William's was playing. There was nothing objectionable about the movie and it could be watched with the whole family, including the youngsters. There was minor rebellion ...

  • Hysterically Funny

The Munro family is looking forward to their vacation and so is their Dad. He is a business man responsible for proposals and sales. The week they are preparing to leave on vacation, his boss comes into his office and tells him they are moving up the proposal (which is dead center of the Munroe vacation). Afraid to tell his wife and family, he comes up with another idea. He appears in front of their house in this HUGE Rental Vehicle that has advertisements all over it. The kids look out the window and complain to their mother that some weirdo parked their RV in front of their house. ***GASP*** it's their DAD! Kicking and Screaming they move forward with the plan and they are all inside the RV listening to their own headsets. They run into all kinds of trouble on trip, especially ...

  • RV(2006)

I like Robin Williams. He's a good actor. Modern day film with modern day problems. In the end the entire family pulls together and they do end up having a wonderful time. Aren't we all movie critics??? There are a few things I would have done different. The kids they show in these movies are the example our kids look at. That's disturbing when you see kids being disrespectful to parents, cussing, dressing like they do nowdays. Whatever happened to just being a kid and doing what is right?????
