Great birthday present for my 5 year old

My dad got an NES classic while we were out visiting so the girls would have something to do while it was raining. My daughter was a big fan of this game, so we gave it to her for her birthday. It's nice because it's a fairly quick game, so she can sit down without a lot of time needing to be dedicated, and it's one of the few NES games she's able to play decently.

Apparently tested doesn't mean it works

Game is not clean tested. I've only gotten it to work once, when I first received it, and that took me about 20 minutes of trying. I use a Retron, not an original Nintendo because the games typically work much better on that. I had been looking for this game for quite a while, searching only locally before remembering Ebay was even a thing anymore. Shame I feel like I wasted my money, and my time.

  • Bubble Bobble (NES) Review 8/10

I used to play Bubble Bobble for hours on end and I don't to this day think I've ever beaten the final boss. You play as a tiny dinosaur who's method of attack is to encase the enemy in a bubble and then pop them before they get mad and bust loose. In my own opinion this game sucks unless played on multiplayer, you can't hurt each other and having a friend playing beside you makes it that much more fun, it also makes it easier in some of the later stages when you need to reach enemies on a platform at the top but with no way up other then jumping on your bubbles and hoping they don't pop and drop you back down...it's much easier when one stands at the bottom shooting bubbles and the other jumps their way to the top on the other one's bubbles. It wouldn't be so bad on one player except ...

  • They Don't Call It A "Classic" For Nothing!!

I was one of the lucky kids (along with my brother and sister) who got the brand new, cutting edge Nintendo Entertainment System when it first came out, and Bubble Bobble soon followed! Typical of most Nintendo games, it was alluringly simple, yet tantalizingly difficult: capture the enemy creatures in bubbles, and pop them to advance through the game - all 200+ levels of it!! It quickly became a family favorite. To this day, nearly 20 years later, I still remember many of the quirky pronunciations my siblings and I gave to the passwords for key levels, and the tricks for getting through the really tough parts. The only downfall to this game is that you absolutely positively NEED two players to truly beat the game: otherwise, you face the dreaded "false ending" and have to start all over ...

  • One of The Best Game of NES

In short, Bubble Bobble was simple, multi-player fun. Whereas Rampage got mind-numbingly boring after three levels, every level of Bubble Bobble was different from the last, and there were lots of different enemies to fight. The game starred two cute, little dinosaur creatures who trapped their enemies in bubbles and then popped said bubbles, turning the baddies into food. There were 100 levels to fight through, with a giant boss named Super Drunk at the end. There were a few frustrating points where you would have to use your bubbles to climb up to get to an enemy, but they weren’t overly damaging to the games fun factor. The graphics and play control are both solid, making for a great two-player co-op.
