Fixed Bayonets
This is an authentic (as authentic as a war movie can be;exception Saving Private Ryan, which is the paradigm of war movies.) depiction of the Forgotton war: the Korean "Conflict. While it didn't delve into the political sideshow that was so very much a part of the fabric of the Police Action, it certainly showed the unprepared state of the U.S. to go to war a mere 5 years after winning WWll. The characters were primarily draftees and recalled reservists, with the requisite "grizzled sergeant" who maintains order when the CO is killed.The characters are deftly drawn with a minimum of cliche type soldiers.The plot demonstrates the adage "The man doesn't always seek the job;The job almost always seeks the man" I liked this film very much and recommend it ... Fixed Bayonets - Great Movie
I bought this DVD as my Uncle was a Sargeant Major in this Chosen Reservoir Battle and I wanted to get an idea of his life and accomplishments. This was an excellent movie that focused on the real aspects of war and is educational as well. Even though this movie was made in the 1950s this was a great movie showing the true aspects and emotions of war. I sent the movie to my cousins so they could say hands on what their Dad experienced.
