My 1st Johanna Lindsey novel...
This fall I decided to venture into reading vintage historical romance novels, which isn't my usual genre. I chose to purchase a few of Johanna Lindsey's novels because her books were always predominantly displayed in romance sections at virtually every bookstore. Not only that, but she is a national bestseller, so I thought I'd give her a try. With an open mind, I cracked open Defy Not the Heart. I have to say I really enjoyed reading this book. It transported me to 12th Century England, the time when King Richard Lion-Heart went on Crusade. It centers around a princess named Reina, who was not yet wed and whose kingdom (Clydon Castle) was up for grabs due to the discovery that her father/ king had died during the crusades. I was amused that Ranulf was so unchilvarous and inappropiate, especially when it came to women; but then you discover the reason behind this and it all makes sense. I really liked Reina's character because she was bold and unafraid to voice her feelings in any given situation, especially when she teases Ranulf. The sexual tension was evident from the start, even in their teasing of each other. Even though I found this cute and funny, sometimes I was a bit annoyed. But, keeping in mind that Reina is only 18 and Ranulf 23 I kind of expected it. As Ranulf and Reina bargain and begin to clearly understand each other, the lust unfolds into love. I hope other ebayers will find this review helpful. *Other Johanna Lindsey books I plan on reading and reviewing: Tender Is the Storm, Man of My Dreams, and A Gentle Feuding.

Just the right title.
This author catches you from the first two to three pages she's very hard to put down. That's why when I read one of her new books I wait until the weekend so that I can finish it. I've been known to be up until 4 and 5 in the morning finish in one of her books.
