About this product

Product Information

Midway's gritty, unlicensed game of football takes the field on Xbox 360, following its controversial debut a year earlier on Xbox and PS2. Designed to present a mature, entertaining look at the rivalry, pride, and pain of professional football, the game revolves around a fictional league, allowing it to explore the darker side of professional sports without offending any real-life celebrities or betraying any image-conscious NFL affiliations. This unflinching spirit is represented by former NFL star and enduring legend of toughness Lawrence Taylor, who lends his voice and likeness to the production.

Not unlike EA Sports' perennially best-selling Madden NFL series, Blitz is designed to offer realistic player models, lively stadiums, competent commentary, and smooth gameplay with plenty of accessible options. On the field, gamers can expect an intensified version of the over-the-top violence and comical extremes in Midway's past NFL Blitz titles. However The League plays off the field, as well, allowing gamers access to behind-the-scenes board meetings and private pro player parties.

In Blitz's story mode, gamers create a custom team of athletes that enters the fictional league in last place. The short-term goal is to win each game at any costs, even if that means bending (or ignoring) the rules when possible. Athletes can bulk up with performance enhancing supplements, for example, if they are willing to risk future health problems and drug tests. Devastating hits on the field earn bonus points, even when they are made outside the realm of "good sportsmanship."

  • Blitz: The League **Extremely Fun without the Pain**

Game Play As everyone knows, the game play is the most important factor in sports games. I can say that Midway succeeded in this aspect for Blitz. The game is a little more realistic than say Blitz 02 or 03. However, that isn't saying much. This game seems like the Blitz of old, NFL Street, and Madden into one. The only similar trait in this with Madden is that there are a large selection of plays. There are also two timeouts per half for each team. The time also stops and goes like how it does in Madden. A new feature during the game is clash mode, which sounds confusing, but after reading over it in the instruction booklet, you will be fine. Of course, seeing bones snap, actually being able to participate in a brawl that will last about 20 seconds, and having your trainer give your ...

  • Hard Hits and Braking Bones

This game is modeled beautifully after the Blitz franchise. I loved Blitz on the Nintendo 64, and then while nintendo has gotten sofer, and even MORE family oriented, the xbox and 360 have grown to accomodate the void for violence left behind. A ripped it a new one! YAY! I love all the extra modes of play, and you can customize as much or as little as you want! I put my favorite team in and customized the entire line-up! Woo Hoo, Go Team!! First time one a division championship in a long time! LOL, I am truly glad I made this purchase. And if you liked the XFL, you will love this too.

  • A good game with not much depth.

Blitz is a dead average game that was spurced up with a ton of little extras to make it fun. The game itself is pretty lack luster, but they added a slow-motion powerplay feature that makes it interesting. The only problem is, later on in the game when youre playing harder teams, youre virtually dependent on the slow-mo thing to do ANYTHING. I mean you cant even make a freaking catch without it. So it ends up feeling like youre playing football in the Matrix or something. "The league" stuff is pretty fun- that's what makes this game worth it. Being able to decide your guy's training regiments, and which dopes to put them on is pretty interesting. It adds just enough to make the game good. Only buy this game if you can get it cheap. I paid around 10 with shipping. Any more than 12 ...

  • Blitz the league

When I bought Blitz the league I was hoping for an experience a little different then the madden games give you, and I definitely got that. This game gets down into the "real" world of professional football. It has painkillers and steroids and other things like that, that really are not officialy part of football but are still there. I enjoyed it for awhile but no one will play it online it seems like. So I would say if you are looking for an experience of football different then madden go ahead get this game, but if you are faint of heart you might want to think twice about getting this game because there is blood and profanity. I gave this game a three mostly because it is lacking in online players and because its just a little over the top on violence and profanity, but if you just want ...
