    A good general recording mic

I have two of these that I use for recording almost everything. They have good 'presence' even if the sound source is 2 feet away. When I got the first one I had my wife record some narration to go with her home movies and she said of all the recordings she had made in her entire life the ones made with this mic "made me sound like 'ME' " This is just an all-around good mic with great sound for the cost. Just be aware that this mic requires 48 volt 'phantom power' to operate. So you have to use something like an M-Audio USB prepay/interface so that it can provide the Phantom Power to the mic. This mic will NOT work with a portable tape recorder or a Public Address Amplifier without inserting a Phantom Power Supply in the line. Also, it comes with a shock mount for a reason. This is ...

  • Top critical review

    Novise Quality

This mic is well suited for low level recording in the 400Hz to 3000hz range. You'll need to keep the SPLs under 80 or so. If not, subject becomes less defined, with low frequencies having a background rumble. These issues seem to be caused by the construction of the mic. The component board & XLR jack are only supported by the attaching plates at the top side. Thus creating a long "wagging tail" effect which is registered by the sensitivity of any condenser mic. Spend twice as much & get yourself a mic that you'll want to store in it's box when not being used.

  • constructive re-buttal

in response to NOVISE QUALITY review, i found the review to be accurate, the anomolies stated can be corrected by stuffing pieces of cut sponge inside the body cylinder, and if necessary, activate the low cut feature by pushing in the square button in the middle of the circuit board. the gxl 2200 might not be a great sounding mic, but it is definately a good sounding mic

  • Great sound, sturdy build, everything I expected and more

I have only used this mic for streaming games and talking on discord, so I am not exactly the target user. Once I started using it people immediately commented how clear and natural my voice sounded. I have it on an arm using the provided mount with an additional windscreen. I really am enjoying my purchase!
