If you are selling on Ebay, the photos you post tell everyone if you are an amature or pro. Early on the Nikon Coolpix became the camera of choice for their simplicity, clear optics and phenomenal close-up capabilities. This is still true, plus the prices have dropped to where even a Newbee can afford to look good. Obviously, if you are looking for a camera for family use, this won't compete in megapixels or other whistles and bells. But for your Ebay business, I recommend getting one of these and dedicating it to listing Ebay photos. Advantages of the Coolpix 4100 are: 1. Ease of use. Just let the dial on the green camera (manual) setting and leave it there. 2. Uses standard AA batteries- no hard to find, expensive OEM battery. If it didn't come with one, get a charger and 2 sets of ... If you are selling on Ebay, the photos you post tell everyone if you are an amature or pro. If it didn't come with one, get a charger and 2 sets of Kodak or Olympus (or similar high-quality) rechargable batteries, and never have to worry about having a dead battery. The old Coolpix 2100 used to eat batteries like candy, but the 4100 sips electricity resulting in long battery life. 3. The close-up feature of the 4100 is phenomenal and sets it apart from the average camera. With it, you can get up to 1 inch away from your item and still get sharp, clear photos. This allows you to take close-ups of labels, texture, drawings, fine print, etc which sets your listing apart from the competition. The close-up setting is the Flower figure on the toggle button. 4. It has enough built-in memory to handle most photo shoots without the memory card. But if you do need a card, it is the increasingly cheap SD card. 5. You can set the Image Setting at PC Screen (1024 resolution) for quick image downloads on your listing while retaining a sharp image. The main disadvantages you have to watch in buying one used is: 1. The USB out port is not standard, but requires the Coolpix cord, so be sure to get one. 2. The battery door latch is plastic and easily broken. This is another reason to keep it next to your computer instead of out in the wild so there is less chance of dropping it on the door latch. A broken door latch can be overcome by taping it shut (a minor irritation if you it gets you a camera for extra cheap when cost is a major consideration). A great Ebay photo set-up is one of these camera from Ebay ($35?), two photoflood lamps ECA or BBA from you local camera store ($5 ea), Two white foam boards from an art store taped at a right angle to form a backdrop ($5), and two reflector clamp-on lamps from Home Depot ($5 ea) for a total of about $60 for a top-notch lighting/camera set up. Download the free Picassa photo program from the Internet to quickly transfer your photos and you are ready for professional Ebay photos. The resulting sharper images and higher bids will more than make up for the cost. This little camera is the secret behind many of the better listing photos you see on Ebay. They are no longer made, so get one while they are still available in the aftermarket. `

Nikon Coolpix 4100 4.0 Megapixel
Today I'll be bubbling about the Nikon Coolpix 4100 digital camera. Ok, not the most dazzling camera on the block at 4 megapixels but I got it for a purpose. These can be had very economically and I got this one for a new underwater enclosure I "caught" on eBay making this the second underwater digital we have. The other is a Fujitsu F700 that boasts 6.2 megapixels and a much quicker response time though the entire system cost around $355 new. For the slightly used Nikon 4100 AND the NEW underwater housing all I had to "shell" out was $66 dubloons. If both were new and in their current manufactured time frame they too would have been around $350 "clams" and maybe even more. This is replacing a film underwater camera that you might have seen in the $20 bracket. Those take surprisingly good ... Today I'll be bubbling about the Nikon Coolpix 4100 digital camera. Also with a large enough SD card, video can be taken of the little critters under the sea for a greater "latitude" of experience. The 4100's Nikon lens is very sharp and the camera has the bells and whistles that most modern day digi cams have such as zoom, timer, time zone with time display, video with sound and they use SD cards while still having an internal memory without a card. The system works well underwater to 130 feet and you can access all the camera functions underwater though using the display screen is how to frame the shots and that does east up batteries so the high capacity AA rechargeables are the best. I like it though a bit slow response time but for the money not a bad choice.

But too many of us are hung up on "bigger is better" and "more is better" - and in the case of digital cameras the end product is often overlooked. Are you a professional photographer shooting copy for an ad agency? Are you going to blow your pictures up to poster size? If not, forget the 10 and 12 Mp beasties out there. Most of us are happy with 8X10 or lesser sizes and for these a 4 Mp camera is more than adequate - especially when those pesky megapixels sit behind a Nikon lens! Concentrate instead on helpful features, such as Nikon's "Scene Modes" that assist you in uncommon shooting situations; the quick review feature that lets you access your pictures before your subject runs out ... Well, don't forget ALL megapixels. In a digital camera you do ned some in order to make a picture. Love Nikon, Love the Coolpix family
I love this camera but then again, I just adore Nikon. Nikon = quality to me. This camera does not dissapoint the name Nikon. It's not as fancy as some other cameras out there but it's an awesome camera still. It's not super sleek, kind of chunky and won't fit in a jeans (girls jeans anyway) pocket but it still has a small compact size. It has adequate options and a great easy to understand menu.
