Easy to set up
I got this because a different computer had died. I was thinking about getting a netbook, but already have an iPhone, which serves quite nicely for my internet needs away from home... and I already have a monitor, keyboard, etc. This, though older technology, serves very nicely as an internet appliance while still streaming my movies/tv/music/photos to my tv. Of course, your mileage may vary, and i have an appletv as well, so that makes it easier for me... But if you are a Apple person, and need some inexpensive internet appliance for your home, then I recommend getting a older mac mini.
Is this a reliable computer?
Actually, when you read my title will think that I'm suggesting the contrary, as everybody usually thinks that Mac computers are reliable. Well, the truth is that this particular model of Mac Mini (and believe me, is an old one) is a VERY reliable and trusted computer. My secretary is using it in my office and so far it is flawless. I'm not a tech guy or anything like it, but come on guys! everybody knows that a PC is a virus receptor. Doesn't matter what you do on it, you'll catch something! I always like to think about it, like catching a flu. Having a PC is like living in a kinder-garden where you know that all little kids (like yourself) will be in contact each other and somehow you'll catch something. How to find out? Go to a doctor. How to find out if you have a virus in your PC? run an anti-virus, any anti-virus or go to tech guy. Please, don't be amaze to find out that you have been working-living-laughing-chatting with around 2,154 viruses and a half of all kinds. As a different story and as I've been told, Mac computers don't get viruses or I guess, normal flu viruses, because I guess that at this point some computer genius should have solved that out :-S But what's for sure, is that Macs give you PEACE OF MIND, and trust me, it's like a 'well deserve divorce', at least once you'll need it in your life. So, as a review, please buy Macs and live free (while we all can and the Apple tech guys keeps on allowing us) :-)
If you need to run Classic Mac OS applications...
..then this is one of the last Mac desktop models in a small form (i.e. not a large desktop Powermac) that will do the trick, and still run recent OS X applications. Very speedy when used for Classic, of course!
An excellent machine.
This is a mini super computer, with all the requirements needed in a small space, with a beautiful aluminum design, just great.
Worst Computer EVER
Bar far the worst, most frustrating thing I have ever owned. Lasted less than a day before I decided to get rid of it. Totally worthless, glorified dvd player (and it doesn't do that well).
