hp iPAQ hx4700 as my travel pc
Bought already second ipaq hx4700 pocket pc. Because it has big clear and readable (even in direct sunlight) screen. The touchscreen works very well so you can launch your software real fast and easy. It has CF and SD card sockets so you can use as much memory and accessorys you need. I use win-mobile 6.1 operation system. It runs very stable and fast. Normally hx4700 have 64Mb of RAM. This one I bought was changed memory chip and it has 128 Mb of RAM. Because of larger memory all applications run faster and I can use more applications at same time. I have desktop dock that is connected to my desktop computer it means I have always up do date all my calendar items, emails, tasks, contacts ans so on are always with me and current. Also I have dock in my car. Its very handy on trips. It has CF card socket on the top where you can put on GPS module. You can install multiple GPS softwares to your hp ppc ex. TomTom, Garmin, Google Maps, Earth Navigator. So you can use that GPS software which one has most accurate map for that area, where you currently traveling. If you turn on Bluetooth then you can connect to internet even in deep forest trough your mobile-phone. If you are online and you use ex. Google Maps software it shows satellite photos so you can exactly see where you are and which way to go. Also it has WiFi card inside and you can go online where ever Wifi is present. There are lot of software to win mobile 6.1 so you can set up your ppc that it exactly meets your needs. Bad thing is if you use Wifi or Bluetooth it drains battery quickly. Totally useless are bottom touch-pad. The buttons are very sensitive and sometimes they react even you do not touch them. You always get better result if you use touch-screen instead of touch-pad. (Same problem was my first hx4700)

Used HX4705 recent purchase
This PDA is a replacement to my Toshiba E750 which died beyond recovery. Having used the HX4705 for a few weeks I can say it is a great unit with the faster processor, larger and higher resolutions screen. The battery life has been very good. Some of the HP applications are overkill for my needs. All of my previously purchased apps have loaded and are working without a problem. The screen rotation is not a feature that I care for. Some apps do not like it and it does not add to my experience. I prefer the stylus on the screen instead of the touch pad for navigation. I like the unit. I hope to use it for several years.This PDA is a replacement to my Toshiba E750 which died beyond recovery. i LOVE the iPAQ hx4705, BUT it does have its limitations. first, the secondary backup battery. if you have to replace it, the equivalent new battery costs about $25 from Newark, the only american distributor who has it. DON'T BUY THE ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT BATTERY, VARTA V6HR, they've been sitting on someones shelf for 5 years. theyre dried out. and if you use it a lot, better get a second main battery and dedicated charging unit. when you swap batteries u gotta do a soft reset, which takes a few minutes. the built-in memory isnt very much, so GET AN SD CARD, stick it the top slot, and load yur software onto the card. theres a free utility called cabinstall that allows you to put your software wherever you want. for me, the best thing is i can turn it off in mid-sentence, answer a phone ... i LOVE the iPAQ hx4705, BUT it does have its limitations. first, the secondary backup battery. if you have to replace it, the equivalent new battery costs about $25 from Newark, the only american distributor who has it. The best pocket pc on the market!!
On the past I have all kinds of pocket pcs, but I have to be honest this would be the best of all,first is really light more than Toshiba 550 e genio and its fast, the screen have 4" diagonal is great,also support landscape mode, wich is very good for some programs or watch a movie,have compact flash slot, sd, can conect wifi and bluetoth even with your phone, this way you can use the phone signal with the ipaq fantastic! its really the best pocket pc that I ever use.On the past I have all kinds of pocket pcs, but I have to be honest this would be the best of all,first is really light more than Toshiba 550 e genio and its fast, the screen have 4" diagonal is great,also support landscape mode, wich is very good for some programs or watch a movie,have compact flash slot, sd, can conect wifi and bluetoth even with your phone, this way you can use the phone signal with the ipaq fantastic! its really the best pocket pc that I ever use.

Still the Best Pocket PC as of 2007
Why is this pocket PC in my opinion the best pocket PC to date? #1 the most Battery Power going up to date 1800ah #2 largest display screen 4" of any PocketPC to date still #3 the only PocketPC with a actual touch pad in order that you can navigate the screen with a pointer like on a full size PC (Brillant!)#4 I think its a good looking PocketPC Love Black!
