Synopsis
In the bestselling BAND OF BROTHERS, Stephen E. Ambrose portrayed in vivid detail the experiences of soldiers who fought on the bloody battlegrounds of World War II. THE WILD BLUE brings to life another extraordinary band of brothers - the men who volunteered to join the American Air Force and undertook some of the most demanding and dangerous jobs in the war. Focusing on the men of the 741st Bomb Squadron and, in particular, the crew of the DAKOTA QUEEN, these are the boys turned pilots, bombardiers, navigators and gunners of the B24s, who suffered 50 per cent casualties during conflict. With his extraordinary talent for bringing alive the action and tension of combat, Ambrose sweeps us along in the B24s as their crews fought to the death to reach their targets and destroy the German war machine.

The only dissapointment of this transaction was the delay in shipping; instead of 3-4 weeks it took 6 weeks for the parcel to arrive. But everything else was very positive! The parcel was sturdy and the total of 10 books were wrapped up nicely. Seller (as well as eBay) was friendly and helpful in providing assistance when getting in touch. Every book matches the condition described and came fair priced. Thanks, happy with the experience. I would buy from this seller again!

Item came in good condition as described except one of the bird cages had broke off in shipping. Was able to glue back so see how it goes. Packaging with foam padding was great to protect items so not seller’s fault. Good value pricing. Shipping speed as expected for USPS Ground Advantage. Great seller and would buy from again!

  • Great story about a famous politician's war experiences

This is the story of George McGovern's experiences flying B-24s during WWII. Great book, and it was Stephen Ambrose's last "real" book before dying of cancer in 2002. (His final book, To America, was a collection of short subjects about history and writing in general.) I saw the author speak locally in 2001 when the book was released and got a signed copy at the time, but it was lost in my divorce. It was good to replace it with this one!

  • Let's you know what book is all about.

It is a Stephen Ambrose book. Probably the best author re: WWII. You can learn a lot about WWII reading Ambrose.
