Basketball fans return to the court in style with ESPN NBA 2K5. Following the lead of ESPN's earlier seasonal releases, ESPN NFL 2K5 and ESPN NHL 2K5, the title of this year's basketball release reminds gamers of its developer's past hits, with a return to Visual Concept's "2K5" naming scheme. As in the previous year's game however, NBA 2K5 gets the full-on, TV-style, ESPN treatment, complete with new camera angles, statistical analysis and overlays, and courtside commentary from Hall of Famer Bill Watson. When the hype clears, however, the real action takes place on the hardwood, and this year's game offers a number of adjustments and new features intended to create the series' most realistically flowing pro basketball simulation to date. The new "Next Movement" system is designed to account for each individual NBA player's skills and abilities, in several different areas. A player's particular physical make-up now helps determine how well he performs in key situations, such as running up court on a fast break, or cutting off an open lane on defense. As in other recent additions to the ESPN sports line-up, NBA 2K5 supports online play, through the Xbox Live service.

ESPN NBA Basketball 2K5 by Take 2 Interactive is brilliant in many ways. First off, I was amazed to see they allowed me to create my own shoes. A sign of a true Superstar is their very own signature kicks. The presentation lives up to the ESPN tagged to the name. Various ESPN personalities supply pre-game and post-game reports, as well as sideline reports. Bill Walton comes up with the half-time report showing replays of the best plays. Ah, and now for the gameplay. A hop-step button has been added for another dimension in storming the hoop. Also, rebounding is more in your control, no more tapping the button and hoping you'll get ... Serious or Not You Have To Try This Game!!!
Get this. When I first bought this game it was to get on XBox live and play a few games against my friends. I love baseball. Adore football. Usually, at least before this game, I abhored basketball. I just wasn't able to get into the swing of things with this sport. This game has completely changed me for the better. I have not become a diehard basketball fan, but I actually understand completely the stats and what a rebound actually is. Now to the game play. Awesome. Flawless in my opinion. The ability to back your opponent to the net. The ability to spin. The ability to complete fast breaks. How about a Blount to Pierce alley oop?? And of course with a little help from you every last one of your teams players can perform normal dunks to complex dunks. Set the level. ... Get this. Never having played this before, on the second easiest setting I beat the Nuggets with the Celtics 200-105. I would recommend starting out right about there and then moving higher up the levels. The higher levels are extremely challenging. It's a game you can possibly lose! But to be honest, with this much fun, can you really?

I have to say, I am not the biggest sports game fan in the world, I pretty much like to play Halo, Call of Duty 2, Splintercell, Etc... and I am not much of a Basketball fan at all, but since I had the other ESPN 2K5 games I decided to try this out, after all, if I didn't like it I could resell it here on eBay. and so I bought it, and have been playing it around once our twice a week ever since! Multiplayer is pretty much what I play, since I have friends that come over, and the quality of graphics rivals new games such as Halo or Burnout Revenge. It's a shame the ESPN games stopped. They were so good. This was a great basketball game. So much better than any sports games by EA. For about $3-$5 it's a deal.
