About this product

Product Information

Following the franchise's legendary return to success under the direction of Crystal Dynamics, Underworld, the studio's sophomore production with Lara Croft, aims to maintain the high level of solid, free-flowing action that reinvigorated the series, while bringing back more of the spooky exploration and challenging jumping puzzles that helped define the classic Tomb Raider games of the late '90s.

Developers strove to create a smooth-moving, contextually integrated character. Motion-capture technology is used for the first time in the series, with the 3D recordings of a world-class gymnast bringing Lara's jumps, flips, and kicks to life. In all, Lara's movement throughout the game incorporates over 2,000 animations.

It takes a god's weapon to kill a god. Lara is set on a quest to obtain the power of Mjöllnir, the hammer of the invincible Thor. Lara's acrobatics and cunning are pushed to their limits in elaborate, sprawling platform puzzles set among ancient tombs and ruins in the jungles of Mexico, the coast of Thailand, beneath the frigid arctic seas, and in other forbidden places of mystic power around the world.

    Good game

It's not as flashy or gritty as the newer TR games but it's good overall, highly recommended for the die hard TR fans.

  • Fanboy recomended but not required for good fun

Welcome to Tomb Raider Underworld. This iteration of Tomb Raider ties up storylines in from the previous two titles following the reboot of the franchise, so it's highly recommended you pick up at least Tomb Raider: Legend if you want to be up to date on the story. In addition, there is no training level (usually Croft Manor) in this version, so if you're new to the series, take some time during the prologue and first level to adapt yourself with Lara's moves; players of Anniversary or Legend will find the controls nearly the same. To obtain 1000 gamerscore, you can obtain it all in one playthrough by starting on the Master Survivalist difficulty. There are 2 level packs available as DLC, each adding 125 The combat isn't too difficult and there is no penalty for dying, so there's nothing ...

  • One of the best Tomb Raiders but still needs work....

I'll try to keep this review short...If you like Tomb Raider or Prince of Persia style games I recommend this game. The level design is good and some of the puzzles are absolutely huge. The graphics have never looked better, especially in the enviroments. Lara herself looks good but she seems to be a bit more "cartoony" than her surroundings. The gameplay is what you would expect from the series but sometimes Lara dosn't quite do what you want her to do. You will die many times because she jumps at a diffrent angle than you planned. Its not game breaking but it needs to be polished more. The motorcycle returns and this time it is integrated into the game better than in legend. Overall it is a good game but does not evolve the series and I feel there is still quite a bit of room for ...

  • Not What I Expected

I bought the game because I own every other Tomb Raider game invented and think they're fun (with the exception of "Legend," which I found to be way too difficult). Plus, I was happy they finally made a Tomb Raider game for XBOX and wanted to try it. The graphics are out of this world. And I like being able to pick out Lara's outfits and weapons. But the game is so full of bugs and glitches I'm thinking it should never have left the drawing board. I found myself jumping against pillars that weren't there, falling through rocks, getting stuck in front of a pit that didn't have a ramp (necessary to get across the pit) because of the dreaded "Midgard Serpent" bug (you can read all about that on Tomb Raider walkthroughs), suddenly turning invisible in the middle of a maneuver(which made it ...

  • Great Game

I love this game. It is very challenging, so for those that don't like puzzles, this isn't the game for you. This game makes you both use your mind to the fullest to find solutions as well as lose your mind to the point of wanting to pull out all your hair. LOL. If you play it on a regular screen, you will not be able to read the text. This game was really intended for the HDTV. We had it on a regular tube tv and I couldn't see or read the instructions or the map. Once I hooked it up to my LCD and used the HDMI cable or the component cable and flipped to HDTV, it was flawless. I could even see the sweat coming down her face. Overall, I enjoyed this game very much like I enjoy most of Tomb Raider games. I would recommend this to anyone who loves strategic games.
