    Based on the same-titled shooter modes featured in earlier Resident Evil games, 2011's Mercenaries for Nintendo 3DS swaps the series' survival-horror pacing for action-driven, seek-and-kill missions. The game is composed of stages taken from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, revamped for the Mercenaries style of play. The main objective in each stage is to destroy as many zombie-like enemies as possible, before a time limit expires.<br><br>The Mercenaries may be played from an up-close, over-the-shoulder view, as in the standard Resident Evil console games, but a first-person shooter perspective is also available. Players' characters can shoot and reload on-the-fly, but must remain still to take aim. As they progress through the adventure, they acquire additional equipment and more powerful weapons -- which may be crucial as they face off against the more cunning opponents that populate later levels. The action plays out in the upper display, with full stereoscopic effects, while the touch screen is used for inventory management and other controls.<br><br>Pulled from previous games throughout the series, playable characters include Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker, Hunk, Jack Krauser, and Claire Redfield. The initial retail release of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D also includes a demo of Resident Evil: Revelations, a more familiar, survival-horror-styled RE adventure, scheduled for release on 3DS in the following calendar year.

      Bought used, works great

      No you can't start from the very begining, but you can replay levels and add on to what the last person did, I think it's a great deal used, I was lead to believe you couldnt replay levels, because of stuff online, wrong! You can go back and replay, save, everything, great deal used. Highly recommended, great game, I love resident evil and this is a great game.

      If you can´t wait for shooting zombies and love the action: here your game!

      You will find a lot of bad critics about this title, a lot of Resident Evil fans complaining about this title. Of course this is not a typical Resident Evil title, and nothing to do with the saga except by the characters. But it introduce you an exciting new way to play Resident Evil universe, similar to the Mercenary Mode you unlock in titles as the Resident Evil Nemesis for PSX. There are no secrets, hidden puzzles or dialogues here. So if you are searching this kind of stuff, forget it. This is not your game. Is this a survival title? Yes. But a new kind of survival: a fast action survival. You will be in the action in seconds, doing exactly we most like. KILLING ZOMBIES. More zombies, evil priests and monsters you kill, more money you win and more bonus you get. New weapons, ...

      One of the Best 3DS Games

      Resident Evil "The Mercenaries" for the Nintendo 3DS is a quality cartridge video game. Control are superb and the graphics are sharp. There is a lot of detail in the levels. RETM 3DS is a super fun game that is directed towards adults and hardcore gamers. It is everything it says it is.

      Ehh, good but not great.

      I would recommend you buying this if you just want to play it like on and off. I mean, this game has no story to it at all to follow. It is more like an arcade game for me. But it is definitely nice to has at the moment. (While waiting for the good titles to be released) I give it a 3.8 out of 5
