    Lou hits the nail on the head

    With the observation of a playright or sociologist, Lou disects pre-millenium New York like a forensics expert sifts through a crime scene. Tunes that paint a warts and all account of the Big Apple. Dirty Blvd. a classic. Romeo had Juliet. A classic. I am transported by the lyrics to the scene of the crime. As Lou says in "Coney Island Baby", the city is a dangerous place. Something like a circus or a sewer... New York takes that idea and fleshes it out over the course of the disc. Lou Reed at his finest.

    Lou Reed at his best. His lyrics are just important today as they where when this recorded was released in 1989.
