Good outdoor cam, with a catch
Vivotek makes really good stuff. This full HD dome camera is not exception. Crystal clear 1080p picture, 4 separately configurable video streams. (No Audio, but there are other models if audio is requires) However there are a few things, to improve. The internal IR LED source, sucks. It shines into the picture from the inner surface of the dome cover. I recommend turning them off. Thanks to Vivotek, it is very easy to turn the IR LEDS off, by using the built in setup menu. For most applications, where I use a wide angle lens camera like this one, I always use external IR source for the perfect night vision. An odd behaviour, which most of you readers will probably never experience unless you are using it in a complex network environment. For some reason, if I use the camera with a CISCO ... For some reason, if I use the camera with a CISCO RV325 Router, and have multiple subnets with VLANs enabled, the camera is completely unreachable from the other subnets, only can be seen on its own subnet. This is not a unique bug, I have a few other devices which behave this way. (With a different router, they are visible from the other subnets. Cisco is very strict in what it lets pass through the inter subnet routing, I guess.)
