Nice old unit
An old model, but still works well and is easy to read. It lacks modern maps but still has great GPS accuracy and functionality. Might not connect to your computer as effectively as a newer model.

The Legend Cx was a great product in its era. Its life as GPS unit is limited by the software update capabilities and it has a fixed chip storage of 4gb. GREAT product for the price. The ability to use the USB port as a connection for a power source is HUGE. Batteries drain quickly in the field.

I bought this handheld GPS unit to help guide me back into port on my 16 ft fishing boat when out fishing the Puget Sound and San Jaun Islands as they can have wiked tides and fog roll in quick and thick, Handheld so i can use it also in my vehicle for work as I am a field tech and travel all over the western part of the state, I previously had a Magellan Map 410, This etrex kicks its butt ( of course! ) being 8 years newer, Color, High sensitivity, ( even gets a fix indoors! ) and of course upgradable via the microsd slot, I have a 2GB card in it right now with the 2010.3 north America map. It is a little hard to use well until you learn how most of its features work as they can be complicated and confusing but after 6 weeks I am pleased with its many functions and USEFUL features, The ... I caan turn it on at a stop light and have directions by the time the light turn green most of the time. Its layout lends itself to one handed operation leaving the other hand to drive the car/boat. the color screen is also a good feture as you can set different paths to different colors for quick id af your track, The etrex syncsb up well with all my computers ( to download geocache waypoints ) It could have a bigger screen, of course that would make it harder to use one handed for smaller people, as I am 6' 200pds not an issue for me. and it could give voice directions, ( perhaps it does & I havent figured out how to set it up that way yet! ) Other than those two items its an exellent, tool...Yes If it were stolen/lost I would buy another like it! very accurate!!

Good little device
On initial start up device appeared to work appropriately. After a short while I noted that pressing the "menu", "delete" or rocker keys would shut the unit off and I would have to restart at the beginning. At first I thought it was due to the function of the background light. After conducting an internet search I found this to be a common problem that was known by Garmin. A software download (patch) was released. Once the update was loaded and the unit restarted, there have been no problems since. The screen is easy to ready and the interfaces are straight forward, and the screen is easy to read in most light situations noted. The accuracy of the sensor can range from 3' to 15' feet of motion. I have noted my position has "changed" despite sitting still. the nice feature of the odometer ... On initial start up device appeared to work appropriately. The Good: Color screen, easy to navigate, good battery life, and it came with the car charger and windshield mount. I use this mainly to Geocache and I love the Geocaching features on this unit. It is very simple to download the cache points from the website, although you have to download a program from the site onto your computer. The Bad: The map CD that came with the unit isn't nearly as detailed as it describes. The state highway that I live off of doesn't even show up, yet it claims to give turn by turn directions. Not a big deal though, since I have a car GPS for that anyways. Overall, I really like this GPS compared to my old eTrex (The basic yellow one) I would recommend this GPS to anyone that needs a mid range unit.The Good: Color screen, easy to navigate, good battery life, and it came with the car charger and windshield mount.
