Product Information

In George Romero's KNIGHTRIDERS, Sir William (Ed Harris) and his followers exist in a Camelot-like utopian state of their own devise, separate from mainstream society. Travelling from town to town and putting on a medieval circus and renaissance fair, they hold jousting matches on motorcycles, complete with full suits of armor. Within their isolated society, however, there are problems--Morgan (make-up effects artist Tom Savini) wants badly to usurp William's King Arthur-like position as the leader of the troupe. William's struggle to lead his followers on an honorable path also comes up against a serious obstacle when the media come calling and attempt to turn the troupe into celebrities, thus compromising all that they believe in. Following his apocalyptic zombie classic, DAWN OF THE DEAD, Romero took a reprieve from the horror game with this singular character study, which just happens to have a good deal of motorcycle stuntwork thrown in for good measure. Written by Romero himself, this lengthy--but original--film is notable for its worthwhile sentiments on staying true to one's self, as well as a fine early perfomance by Harris.

I bought this movie after seeing From Dusk till Dawn. I thought Tom Savini was so cool in the part of "sex machine" that I wanted to see him in something else. So I bought Knightriders on a whim, simply because it was the first movie I found with his name on it. Oh happy day!! This is my favorite movie ever!!! Bikes, medieval times, Ed Harris, Tom Savini and George Romero. Do you really need any other reasons to buy this movie?!?! Storyline: Renaissance faire. Travelling from town to town staging medieval jousting tounaments. Only not with horses, with bikes. We follow this group of people in their ups and downs. Watch their fear as their way of life starts to fall apart when some decide that it is time to get bigger and richer, while others believe that that is what they have tried to ... Words cannot describe how much I love this movie. You must buy it. Ed Harris has the lead and I`m pretty sure this was ,if not his first movie, then at least one of the first. He is, as always, amazing in this part as Billy, King William in his world that he has created and must now watch slipping away. Tom Savini, as his Dark Knight "nemesis" Is equally brilliant. ( We must get him out of his make-up basement and onto the screen again.) If you are a George Romero fan, you will of course recognize his friends in supporting roles, and keep an eye out for the one and only Stephen King and his wife Tabitha in a hillarious cameo.

Knightriders - Good Film
The reason why I purchased this film was that, believe it or not, I was in it. Oddly enough back in the late 70's I lived in the Pitssburgh area. One of my high school friends had found out that they were looking for extras and all you had to do was show up. We went and ended up in many of he crowd scenes. I had not seen the movie since it was first released and always was curious about watching it over 25 years later. It was really wierd to see myself at 18 again. The movie is good and has some great cameos of Steven King. It's not the typical Romeros movie. I had seen this movie many years ago. It is not a great movie but is a different one. It has a pretty deep meaning and some good action scenes. I am pleased with it.
