Fit my needs precisely
This product is inexpensive and works well: I needed to purchase this particular Docking Station because it has an eSATA port in back, which is required in order to expand the DVR recording capacity of my DirecTV receiver. The USB port on a Genie DirectTV receiver is for power and charging, NOT data transfer: it would be useful if, say, you had a 2.5" laptop hard drive for your external DVR storage and needed an available USB port to power it. Worth it if you understand the drawbacks
- Sata drives worked fine. (Keep in mind that this won't display an unformatted drive). - There are IDE drives that are slightly wider than normal. A couple of my spare IDE drives worked in this. Which is great. One did not as it was a little too wide. If you absolutely need an IDE drive read and have no way to know, get an IDE enclosure where the power and data connections have cords. Flexible cords. Not a set distance between power and data inputs. - The car readers are cute, but don't work with a STANDARD SD card. You know, the kind we all use in stuff!!!- Sata drives worked fine. (Keep in mind that this won't display an unformatted drive). - There are IDE drives that are slightly wider than normal. Worked perfect right out of the box on 1st attempt.
Cloned a 500gb hd to ssd drive with no issues. Took less than an hour and my pc now boots up even faster. Didn’t have to format new drive. Only time will tell but for now it’s great.

Didn't work for me. Disconnects constantly.
Attached 3 different drives and was unable to get the EIDE connected. The SATA connected ok but got no response. Connected a USB thumb drive that is known working and constantly disconnects and reconnects. Maybe this is a dud? So far, not impressed and is ashamed as a needed item and very handy to have if worked.
