About this product

Product Information

In 1941 the German physicist Werner Heisenberg (Daniel Craig) took his life into his own hands by making a covert trip into Copenhagen to meet his friend, the Danish physicist Niels Bohr (Stephen Rea). Real facts about why the risky jaunt took place are unclear, as is the subject matter the two men discussed. The tale has entered into modern folklore, and various theories abound as to why the two men met at this dangerous time. This dramatization attempts to tackle some of the myths surrounding the rumors and half-truths that have engulfed the two men in subsequent decades, resulting in a thought provoking two hours of material, that makes for compelling and engrossing viewing.

  • Great title that goes well with the story/dvd movie

Well this movie was inspired by actual events that baffled historians for over 50 years. It takes place in 1941 with a meeting between two physicists names Niels Bohr of Denmark and Werner Heisenberg of Germany. Heisenberg Played by Daniel Craig visited the home of Bohr played by Stephen Rea. It is the story of the beginning of the modern nuclear age and the atom bomb. Both actors played excellent portrayals of the men. I was interested in the movie because of Daniel Craig, who I think is one our finest actors today (he is the current James Bond in Casino Royale) also excellent. I have been following his career for some time, and find him to be a riveting actor to say the least, who can play any type part. He is British, but I am sure he will be standing on our american stage in the ...

  • Thought Provoking

I've had a lifelong fascination with physics and when I first saw this movie on PBS I was blown away by it. I particularly love Niels Bohr and this is a movie/play about the man who created Quantum Physics and his student Werner Heisenberg who created the Uncertainity Principle. Bohr lived in Denmark, Heisenberg was German and became the director of Hitler's atomic weapons program. Bohr was a Jew and saved many Jewish lives. The movie is speculative in nature, imagining conversations between these two men who were very close and loved each other. Did Heisenberg sabotage the Nazi war effort allowing the Allies to win ? That is the question and it's a fascinating one. I highly recommend this one.
