About this product

Product Information

After proliferating on PCs and conquering the consoles, the Sims bust out in this first portable version of Maxis' popular people simulator. Fans should feel at home with vital Sims gameplay elements, such as the ability to design custom characters and the responsibility for seeing that their basic daily needs are met. A few important changes have been made, however, as the series moves from monitors and TV sets to the small screens of the Game Boy Advance.

The control scheme in this portable version has been designed from scratch, to best match the GBA's button layout. One big difference in controlling the game concerns the way players move their Sims from place to place. For the first time in any Sims game, players take direct, driving control of their characters, instead of click-queuing a string of actions for Sims to follow in turn.

Connectivity is another important feature of this version of The Sims. Properly equipped Nintendophiles will be able to transfer their GameCube Bustin' Out characters to the GBA for some on-the-go development and needs-meeting, then send them back home to the GameCube, improved and refreshed. Connecting the GBA Sims also unlocks a money-making mini-game on the GameCube, and a "hidden" level in the portable version. Certain character-based objects can be traded between two linked GBA Sims Bustin' Out players.

More similar to the console than the home computer versions of the game, The Sims Bustin' Out focuses on a single character who moves through a loosely scripted storyline. Player characters begin the game living in a barn, so there's nowhere to go but up. As they develop skills and meet certain goals, characters can unlock useful objects, move into nicer homes, and improve their lifestyles as players see fit.

A sims game with a storyline! Weird and fun!

I think all handheld sims games are.....different in their own way. That's what I love most about this game. You'll spend time meeting the wacky townspeople, completing quests, doing jobs (mini-games) for extra cash, and decorating your place as you move up in the sim world! I've barely made it to the clocktower and I feel like there is still so much more to unlock and do. If you're looking for an open sims game like the sims 3 or 4, then you probably wont like this game. However, if you're looking for a weird gem with all the fun elements of the sims, then this is a must have for your collection!

    Save Game Files Don't Work

The cartridge began working fine and properly, after one day or so of use by me it no longer accepts saved game files. Whenever I save a game and turn off the device, reload it and try to load my game file, it is magically not there.

Words cannot describe how thankful I am that someone kept this game for 14 years! It's in great shape, I (embarrassingly) haven't stopped playing since I got it in the mail. Makes me feel like a kid again. Thank you thank you!

  • The Sims: Bustin' Out (GBA)

The game is the basis for the Urbz in the City on GBA. The game is a little more challenging than the Urbz because it has mini-games you have to win to be able to access another area within the game. The graphics are decent for an older game. It is appropriate for children 8 and up. Younger ages would not find it fun because of the lack of action/fighting. I am enjoying the game but I do love all things Sims. I decide to buy the game because I have all the other Sim games. The Sims: Bustin' Out is a new member of my collection.

  • Fun, Addictive, Challenging in a good way Kind of game.

I had this game a long time ago and I really enjoyed playing it! I recently purchased it again to relive the glory day if you will. Anyway since then, I have once again become addicted to it.. It's fun yet challenging. I like it because you have to use wits......Deffinatly not an easy quick game. I've never played it all the way through before so IDK how many goals or stages there actually are..... TATA!
