Notes
2006 digitally remastered reissue of this 1972 album by the British Glam/Rock superstars featuring five bonus tracks: 'My Life Is Natural', 'Candidate', 'Wonderin' Y', 'Man Who Speeks Evil' and 'Slade Talk to Melanie Readers'. By the time that the 'Slayed?' album arrived in September 1972, Slade had scored their third British No.1 single with 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now', which was included on side two of the LP. 'Slayed?' has been called "music to wreck concert halls to", and it's a description that few familiar with it would choose to refute. Aside from 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' and 'Gudbuy T'Jane', the latter a No. Two hit in November '72, it was swelled by self-penned nuggets like 'How D'You Ride' and 'The Whole World's Goin' Crazee', plus covers of Janis Joplin's 'Move Over' and 'Let the Good Times Roll' by Shirley Goodman & Leonard Lee, both of which were regulars in their live repertoire. New Musical Express hailed 'Slayed?' as "one of the greatest rock 'n' roll releases ever," and it remains one of the band's best-loved long players. Crank up the volume and go crazee!. Slavo.

CD arrived timely. It was advertised as 'very good condition.' However, case (cardboard sleeve) was quite worn. CD itself had clearly been very scratched up. Fortunately, disc had been resurfaced and played all the way through. Fair condition at best. Packaging was very good though.

  • British Rock Classic

British Hard Rock/Rock'n'Rollers Slade originally released their SLAYED? LP in 1972. The band was very English in both musical style and presentation; which is definitely part of their charm (notwithstanding the fact that they were strongly influenced by American Rock & Soul). Slade was more or less a party band; and was considered as part of the Glam Rock scene of the early 70's. Well, they were none too glamorous in my book- their outrageous clothes and costumes came across as bizarre to this American, and I would bet that most Americans would feel the same.... hee, hee. Their music and antics were somewhat geared towards a young audience at this stage of their career. None of which takes away from the fact that these guys were a whale of a lot of fun ! Here ...

  • Perhaps Slade best album

After 2 failed albums Slade explodes with an excellent third album that conquers the charts. The remaster version includes bonuses and a great booklet with rare photos and a lot of text that explains the period of the album and the songs. very recommended
