Decent surround sound. Good for average apartment / living room. Has only 3 speakers (2 sattelite and 1 subwoofer) which makes it easy to set up with no extra wires to hide or worry about. It has no headphone jack (doesn't matter to me). Read time for DVDs is a little slow but acceptable. Standard DVD.. not Blue Ray. They advertise this for $999. I paid $217. I would pay $325 and consider it a good deal. Anything more and you should get Blue Ray.Decent surround sound. Good for average apartment / living room. Sony DAV-X1 Theater System, Very Impressive...
I was in the neighborhood for a surround sound system and let's just say I definitely did my "homework". From Consumer Reports, to Ebay reviews, even a few Cnet.com evaluation's as well. I've always been a fan of the Bose systems but after learning that they have a unreliable maintenance history, I wasn't willing to spend that much for a system that would most likely have some kind of issue down the road. The Bottom line is this: Sony's reliable, they have had a fantastic reputation for years; and they simply understand quality. After reading a few reviews, I found out that the DAV-X1 was Sony's answer to the infamous Bose 3-2-1 system (much like the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 controversy). I've listened to both of these systems side by side and they sound so similar I couldn't tell them ... In my opinion after doing months worth of tests, studies, and reviews the Sony DAV-X1 system is simply the way to go. An all around impressive system for a very affordable price!

Amazing Surround Sound Without All The Speakers
This virtual surround sound is perfect for small rooms and for those not interested in rear speakers. The quality is amazing and in smaller rooms it is impossible to tell the difference virtual and real sounds. I also have a bose virtual surround sound that costs around $1000 and I honestly can't tell any difference other than the writing on the front. The best Home Theater System ever
I spend a lot of different system but I could not belive it that a tini unit can be a great ever. The sound is clear, amazing, and power. It is great for a condo, simple and neat. It's also for great Karoke as well. I bought 3 units one in amazon and 2 in ebay as a gift. Most my friends aggree with me about this Sony DAV-X1 Home Theater System. It is hard to find this system right now. IT IS HOT!!!I spend a lot of different system but I could not belive it that a tini unit can be a great ever. The sound is clear, amazing, and power. Surprise, Punch !!!
I had one back when it first came out. Compared it to the Bose 321 system at the time. I left the store with this.. that being said it's more compatible, sounds every bit as well, was around $300 cheaper. If you can get one complete with cables and remote for anything$300 bucks you should be alright, and ahead..
