Radar Mission - FUN in a small gray package
Radar Mission is one of those nostalgic games that seems to imbed itself in your gaming psyche. I fondly remember playing it many years ago on the original gameboy, and it rarely left the cartridge slot for very long. Hard to believe that Yokoi's "olive green" screened wonder that could - would still have it's descendents (in it's many iterations over the years) enjoying the great success it sees today. Radar Mission (and many other great games for the gameboy series) are in part responsible for the gameboy's success. Because what good is a game system if the games themselves are no fun? Let's ofcourse give proper respect to the Grand-daddy of them all "Tetris". But that same addictive quality, found in the likes of Tetris, is found in Radar Mission. Now from purely a nostalgic level, and in comparison to it's competition at the time - Radar Mission is peerless. If you were to compare it to the current generation of games (or even portable games) in terms of graphic prowess and gameplay - it would not hold up. However, rather ironically it still stands the test of time, as it's still alot of fun to play. Really isn't that what it's all about to begin with? Just as a good game of chess or an older movie still has it's demographic nailed down? That said, Radar Mission is a simple enough game in concept. It's essentially the classic game of BattleShip with a few additional and interesting tweaks in gameplay to forever seal it in the "classic" department itself. Essentially you place your ships on a battle grid and take turns against the AI attempting to sink his fleet first. In that, there are several specialized weapons that send the gameplay over the top. It has the peculiar effect of playing an edge of your seat, white knuckled strategy game. Hitting the right square that gives you a special attack right at the knick of time is exhilerating, and it speaks volumes to the game design. There is also a second game included. Which is basically a first person Submarine hunting game. It is very fast paced and is fun in it's own unique way (but for my money the BattleShip game is far more fun). The two games alone are worth the price of admission by themselves but both are included in this little cart. I highly suggest you pick this little title up before it's lost to the sands of time :)

Oldie but a goodie
Radar mission is two games in one. Game A is TIGHTLY based on the famed game, BATTLESHIP Whereas Game B is an independent 'wolf-pack' submarine game. Simple to learn, challenging to play...VERY hard to master!

damn this game takes me back. It's simple and sort of a take on battleship with a few added extras, such as different sized map boards (8x8, 10x10, 12x12) luck shots which are multishot, and some other things. CPU is oddly accurate on the larger maps. Cartridge works perfectly. Great gift for my father as he lost my copy of it from my childhood. Fantastic price and insanely fast shipping. totally gonna be a repeat buyer.damn this game takes me back.
