really nice machines for their day

Right now it is 2018. JVC made the DR-MV100B units many years ago. When they were made, they had a usable life of 5-7 years. If you buy one now, you need to be aware that it likely does not have much life left in it. Remanufactured units can be found. There are many different ways in which the units can fail and troubles may be intermittent. If the unit is working properly, it has great features and recording quality. There are a lot of in/out wiring connections and should not pose a problem connecting to other equipment that you are using. The built-in digital tuner is a plus; no converter box is needed. Owners manuals can be found on-line.

  • Super easy to use machine!

Dubbing can be done with one touch! I love that I can just put an antenna on and watch and record all the digital TV channels in my area. I can record them on DVD or VHS, but I use VHS most of the time. (It's just easier for me.) If you've got some great VHS tapes out there don't throw them away use this machine. This machine he's one of the best dubbing machines out there, and I'll be using this for years!

  • DVD Recorder/VCR Combo

It works great. The record feature for the VCR and DVD gives excellent quality. It was easy to set up and it plays VCR and DVD pre recorded movies and music excellent. The clock feature was easy to set up. The features like the extended play for the VCR and DVD were easy to understand. It is a very attractive black unit and it fits into my decor. The instruction booklet that was provided with the machine is very well written. All the connection wiring was also included with the unit and very easy to set up.

  • It was not good, but the seller was very attentive

The product and I were not compatible. I returned the item and received a refund. I am pleased even though the item was not to my liking. I purchased the item because I do a lot of recording for church groups, study groups etc. the editing capacities are not what I am used to, plus I could only record my local stations, due, I am sure to my lack of familiarity with this brand. I much prefer Toshibas which I have been recording on them since they first put out their DVD recorders.

  • Many problems

CONS: 1. The DVDs I make are not playable on my computer. Don't know if that's across the board or not. 2. The machine gets way too hot! I am afraid to watch VHS tapes at all. DVDs inside get way too hot, even when they're not being watched. You can't leave any media in the machine. 3. The DVD player ocassionaly makes loud grinding noises like a bad hard drive spinning. It's so loud it disturbs the watching, if not damaging the media/machine. I suggest buying a Toshiba or something else at a store, where you can take it back if you have a problem, atleast.
