About this product

Product Information

THE SNAPPER is a humorous look at what happens when an unmarried, working class Irish girl, Sharon Curley (Tina Kellegher) gets pregnant and refuses to identify the father. Steeped in the atmosphere and dialogue of present-day Dublin, screenwriter Roddy Doyle and director Stephen Frears create a charming and realistic slice of suburban Irish life. The film was followed by Doyle and Frears' collaboration on THE VAN, the third of the "Barrytown" trilogy.

  • Snapper

I decided to buy "Snapper" having read a great review (as well as others) that its written in the spirit of "Waking Ned Devine".....a great Irish movie I've watched with my husband and kids.....BUT when we put this on it was a huge shocker. Very gritty and not suitable at all for children. It was an OK movie otherwise, with some good acting but the story just seemed to drag on and on and I didn't feel it was anything special. I wish I had not bought it. Rental maybe.

  • Adult theme, not for those with no sense of humor

Funny twists and turns, made with almost Benny Hill or Monty Python style humor, this is a hidden gem. Meaney does an excellent job as the father, and Kellegher brings a delightful sass to the daughter. If you are easily offended or look for things to be upset about, this isn’t for you. If you are looking for some British humor, this is worth the viewing!

  • Funny, but different...

This movie was pretty cute. The main character gets herself pregnant, but doesn't want to tell anyone who the father is. This movie isn't that old, but the weird thing is that even though she knows she is pregnant she continues to go out to the pub with her girlfriends, (all of which have terrible hair styles), and gets totally piss drunk. Its not very long, and the fashions are hard on the eyes. The dad in the movie is really cute too, he tries so hard to help her out.

  • Surprise baby

    Funny Irish comedy
