Possibly the greatest Hitchcock film ever made
North by Northwest has always been one of, if not, my favorite Hitchcock film. You immediately understand how an Everyman like Roger Thornhill could have his whole world turned upside down due to a case of mistakened identity. It, of course, has the suspense that Hitchcock movies are known for, but moreover it is an exhilarating thrill ride of escaping death over a seaside cliff, running from the authorities that believe you are a wanted murderer, and trying to save the woman you love from spy-killers on top of Mount Rushmore. While I am more partial to the "Hitchcock-man" Jimmy Stewart in such greats as Rear Window, Rope, or Vertigo, Cary Grant despite being older with a much younger Eva Marie Saint, did a throughly convincing job as the Thornhill and his accidental "alter ego" George ... North by Northwest has always been one of, if not, my favorite Hitchcock film. GREAT MOVIE one not to miss.
Cary Grant, Hitchcock, James Mason, Eva Marie Saint great stars you just don't see anymore. This movie is a classic because of that snapshot in history. Hitchcock shows his love of filming around famous landmarks by shooting parts around the U.N. building in NY and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. It's a great story of spies, that keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to the very end.
