About this product

Product Information

Billed as an "espionage RPG," Alpha Protocol casts you in the role of secret agent Michael Thorton as he embarks on a series of international operations set in Rome, Moscow, Tai Pei, Saudi Arabia, and other exotic locales. From inside computer-equipped safe houses around the world, you'll converse with your handlers, glean intelligence, review dossiers, and receive new missions. What sets Alpha Protocol apart from traditional action games is the level of customization you have over your character and the options you have while interacting with others. Key role-playing features like dialogue trees, skill points, and equipment upgrades are included, with characters who will react in different ways based on your approach and reputation.<br><br>The action takes place from a third-person perspective as you complete objectives however you see fit, depending on the direction of your character. Stealth-oriented spies can complete the entire game without killing an enemy, while destructive types can bring out the body armor and heavy artillery. Action points can be assigned to an assortment of attributes, from stealth and pistols to sabotage and technical aptitude, which all lead to different skills. Cash earned by completing missions can also be spent in multiple ways, from powerful weapons on the black market to hiring mercenaries to purchasing various gun modifications for improving stats in areas like damage, accuracy, recoil, stability, and ammunition capacity.

    Unable to play

After installing the game I tried to activate the game with the key code and the game will not activate. Went to the internet to research the problem and found out that many people are experiencing the same problem.

  • Could have been the next Mass Effect

Alpha Protocol is a great game that suffered from being released without being polished. It had many bugs that have since been patched and it still suffers from poor AI, occasional camera issues and some framerate slowdown but overall this game had potential and could have been the first in a series of incredible games like we see in the mass effect series. AP is actually alot like Mass Effect. So if you liked Mass Effect give this game a try. There's a lot of choice that effects how the game plays out. It has a lot of variety to the missions that I find to actually be better than Mass Effect's missions. Except for the boss missions, these guys are super human and will frustrate you to the point of turning the game off. (hint: most are weak to flashbangs and shock bombs but still ...

  • Adventure/RPG first, FPS/stealth second...underrated fun

I fully agree with the other reviewers who said this game was underrated by the "official" reviews. It is a great RPG, with excellent character progression, intriguing story, excellent voice acting (some of the best I've heard in a video game in some time), and a great sense that your choices have an impact on the outcome of the adventure. The letdown for some came from the fact that, no, the FPS aspect of the game is not quite up to par with many games whose primary focus is FPS (Far Cry, Bioshock, GoW etc). But if one thinks of this as an adventure/RPG with FPS elements, I think you'll see what the devs had in mind. Moreover, I thought that the level design was actually quite good, with multiple legitimate ways of completing virtually all of the missions. It is also a bit short for ...

  • Amazing game!

I held off on buying this for a while because it got really bad reviews, but after playing it at a friend's house I figured it was worth picking up. I've since played through it a total of 3 times (at 15-20 hours per playthrough) -- it's an amazing game! Yeah, it's got an annoying camera glitch (do some googling to figure out how to fix it), but the stealth elements are loads of fun, the combat is great, and basically no matter how you develop your character, you finish the game feeling like a totally unstoppable badass. Don't buy this game if you're looking for the next Gears of War/other third-person action/shooter. That's not what this is. Do buy this game if you like games in which your character gets more powerful over the course of the game, games that involve lots of sneaking ...

  • Alpha Protocol-

Here is a good example of a game with ltos of deep thought behind it. Deep and compelling story with lots of twists and turns. More options than most in the wannabe RPG games with a spin on consequence for ones actions. I really enjoyed the storyline system and the different twists and spins that one can use through conversation manipulation. It gave a good illusion of actually having an impact on what's going on. After playing through various parts and trying different options and choices, the story pretty much remains the same through most of the game. The action sequences were nice and the interactions with well developed npc personalities was also refreshing. Well worth the money spent. Anyone who enjoys the FPS, action, spy genres should enjoy this game.
